Did you drop launch it or modulate the clutch?

I tried to slip it a little bit, but I was using a technique that WarrTalon uses. He starts letting the clutch until the car starts to roll, then he does a quick slip and hammers the gas.

It was working, working so well that the car wheel hopped and broke 1st.

I think Clayton owes me a gear for listening to him!

We ran a couple more times after that, but either I just suck that much launching or the gear being broke was making the car impossible to launch.

I'm HOPING to pull the trans on wednesday.

We'll probably rebuild the stock trans...from what I'm told, the wheel hop will kill a built tranny just as quick.

I think we'll go with lower tire pressure, maybe some motor mounts.

Ben. are you sure you broke the trans and not the front diff? I find it really had to believe that style of launching would break 1st, when the way I launch and 1st is still in one piece. Good mph but it's to be expected from the power you have. Can you post up your first pass, I want look over it. Text format is fine.

Ivan

Interesting... I'll have mine at the 1/8th mile on the 16th or 18th but last year I was trapping 89mph with the stock turbo on pump gas. Definately an 11sec car with a good launch and quick shifts.

Just out of curiosity what flywheel did you go with? I wonder if some stickier tires would help cut down on wheel hop some.. you definately want to spin but too much is bad :\
