UPDATE: ix with cams

I just got back from turbotrix, they fixed a couple of problems i had with the car and it runs real good. the numbers didn't change except my torque when up 3lbs, we ended up finding that i have a resinator and that is whats holding me back from reaching higher numbers. So I have to order a testpipe, clutch and get my turbo maniflod and 02 housing ported and maybe i can get 370-380whp or more. I can't complain about the numbers but now i know why iam not seeing the power iam looking for. I give great thanks to the guys at turbotrix, they answered all of my questions and just flat out helped me. The tune is badass and the car runs great, thanks guys for the extra power.

here is what the resinator looks like, even though they claim its a race pipe i remeber it having a honeycomb screan on the inside.

AND THE PROJECT CONTINUES....

Sorry, Jeff, that's a Megan 3" RESONATED test pipe. It is not restrictive at all. Many of us have been using that test pipe for years now, and it's fast as hell. That is by no means holding you back, and the mesh inside is not a problem. Plenty of other cars have made huge power on the Megan TBE with that same resonated test pipe. A manifold and ported o2 won't give you that much power nor will another brand of test pipe, imo.

True that, in my personal case, adding a ported mani, hotside and Ebay 02 gave me NO additional power at all, so I sold those parts and went back to stock

Maybe they sent you the Helix high flow cat by mistake. Lancershop sells both. They look very similar. I have the MR resonator and it flows great. No screen inside.

Do a search on the manifold and o2 housing...what some people consider not too much isn't the same for others. You can spend roughly ~200 on buschurs ported/coated manifold for a few ponies and the o2 housing on ebay is about ~$50 and produced 13 hp for buschur...for 250 if you were to gain 15ish hp that's not too bad...not huge but if you're looking to squeeze every last hp out why not.

well my goal is 450whp, I don't want any restrictions when I add alky to it. maybe i should forget about the ported manifold and o2 housing and just buy the alky and clutch instead. i mean whats next after that. a fmic

Exactly... Drop the ported/coated parts, leave those as last resort, squeeze everything outta it mods.

Go with the alky, cams (If you don't already have them, your sig odvisouly isn't updated), LICP and your clutch. LICP has been working wonders, good cheap mod.

FMIC would be good to do right before the coated/ported parts, it is very expensive w/ minimal gains.

Unfortunately, this is with cams, yet he's still below others without cams. I don't know where the 450whp goal came from, but I think that's a bit ridiculous.

Alky, clutch, licp, fmic, o2, ported manifold are all good with the alky providing the most gains.

warr you have it all wrong my goal for the car is 450whp not with cams. thats what i want to get outta the car. I understand that cams won't make anywhere near 450whp. sorry if my post was misleading.

Yeah, tuned IXs with tbe/mbc/flash are doing 330whp minimum and as high as 355whp. Hell, TurboTrix themselves had a guy who just had tbe/mbc and base flash but somehow ran 11.9 with 116mph traps, which requires about 370whp. They said he put down 35x on their dyno. That's more than you with less mods and less tuning. Now, not every car is going to be as powerful, but your current numbers are what we expect on a custom tuned IX with stock cams and stock IC piping. That's for Dynoflash _and_ TurboTrix, so it's not like I'm knocking TT - they know how to tune.

I know you weren't saying 450whp just from cams. I'm saying 450whp is crazy with your current plan unless you're upgrading the turbo.

I plan on upgrading the turbo but iam torn between the 50trim or 35r with alky. Before that i need to find out which alky kit is reliable, so i still need to research some more and look at all my options. I don't want a drag car so iam leaning toward the 50trim with alky.
like i said 450whp is my goal, some how i have to come up with the extra 100whp to meet it.

TT BB 50-trim with alky = 450whp all day easily with decent spool. Do it and sell me your stock turbo.
