Nice having a tuned car

Well, I had my Evo tuned at Turbotrix this weekend. Other than my spark plugs being completely shot and needing to have them throw in some new ones while it was on the dyno(sorry guys, I completely forgot to get new ones in time before my appointment...and it was on my list too) the tune went pretty well. Granted my air filter is seriously old and restrictive and it was 101 degrees on the dyno (yeah it was a hot friggin day) it still pulled a decent power curve.

It was my first time at Turbotrix and it was definitely cool to see a parking lot and garage full of so many Evo's. The showroom experience was a little below par though. No one was even out front for most of the time we were there and there were pizza boxes all over the counter too. Other than the "appearance", the shop definitely has a boatload of know-how and thats why I drove the 4.5 hours to get my tune done with them. Once I get a new clutch, cams and a few other add-on's, I'll make the trek again for a more extensive tune.

The guy who was up front definitely WASN'T a tech, lol. Pizza is cool....just not professional. I would rather see STACKS of pizza boxes if there is an employee up front at the counter at least I didn't drive all that way for the sales floor....it was for the reputation and reliable results

Sorry about the appearence. We were short a tech for the day, and a counter guy for half a day.

So what if these guys at TT like to eat pizza??? What is it to you people?

I mean the Ninja Turtles like to eat pizza too but nobody complains about that?

would love to see the mods....Heat affects turbo cars a lot worse than you might think. I've watched turbo cars at the road courses in mid-90 degree heat and they tend to get progressively slower with each lap, just not showing the same power.

The curve is nice and the power seems good. As you said you were there for the tune, and they got you out the door with what you wanted. They work pretty hard(I've spent a fair amount of time in their shop, and I work on cars everyday.) and do a good job.

Sometimes when your working hard, and short handed, things not dealing with your task at hand(work on the customers car) get put off for a bit.

Was there any pizza left? I would have eaten it.

Mods: Everything is stock unless listed below
  • Megan Tubular Manifold
  • Megan O2 housing
  • Megan TBE (gutted cat)
  • Air filter on MAF adapter plate (came with the car and was rather old)
  • Boost was at 21psi but it appears they bumped it to 23-24psi which it holds solid with no spike either (not complaining about that!)

If my plugs weren't shot and had to have them replace 'em while strapped on the damn dyno (sorry again guys) he mighta got a little better tune out of her but he only did one more pull with the new plugs and that was that. We left Rhode Island at 11:30am(straight from my work) and pulled in the parking lot JUST at 4:30pm when my appointment was. We planned to get there at least an hour early to kinda let the car be less heat soaked from the ride but NY traffic was in gridlock!!!!

I don't know if any pizza was left...they didn't offer
