Hey Rich, I bought the Double Din kit, I think I speak (however speaking for myself) a lot of MR's may have wanted the metallic kit. I of course purchased mine a short time after the metallic finish was discontinued. That color fit the OEM interior to the MR and would have provided a more OEM feel. I'm supportive either way if I had to pay but an exchange would be awsome. Good luck on getting this situation sorted out as you have always pushed your product in a professional manner and it is definatly appreciated by everyone in the Evo community. If you make other kits with the same quality, my best wishes and support to your venture.

guys, please keep these comments rolling - i appreciate the support and hope we can gather enough interest to move this idea from the table and into production.

if the demand is there and you guys are willing to spread the word within the Lancer/EVO community, i will add the pre-order option to our website for the reformed design so we can start to leverage the manufacturing.

funny, other than 201 motorsports, no other vendor has said a word. remember ladies and gentlemen, you guys are their source of income...if you genuinely want this product, you'll have to make some serious noise because we won't be able to make this a reality without their help this time.

in response to some of the posts above - we would certainly refund your money if the product did not make it to production. accordingly, we would discount your price for taking that risk and helping us finance the new manufacturing process. as for the fit and finish, i would not even consider discussions on significantly upgrading the manufacturing process if the end result wasn't going to yield a substantially better product with more efficient production capabilities. trust me, we did the best we could do get the product to the market...with your help, we may now be able to take the next step and make this product even better for everyone.

as for the finish, we will most likely just offer a true grained finish with no metallic option. unfortunately, the massive costs of tooling will only allow us to manufacture one texture with our kit - so as it stands, you will only be able to order the black grained finish from us. however, there are several vendors out there that specialize in carbon/metallic coatings or overlays (i.e. rexspeed). if one of them got in touch with me about offering a metallic or carbon bezel for our kit, we might be very inclined to assist them in any way possible to make that option available to you guys. it would certainly be a good opportunity for another vendor to capitalize on trim options that are apparently high in demand as well as for you, the end consumer, to have even more interior options at your disposal.

The only thing that held me back was that it didn't look stock. Now that it would look stock. I would order.

My issue has been not having the dough to throw at a stereo right yet. I'm still trying to work the bugs out of my car first before I get something like this in.

I have, however, been eying the 2-din navigation units from Pioneer, and Eclipse.

The issue is, I probably wont be able to afford a setup like this till later in the future - late 2008 personally.

I imagine that there are quite a few people in your situation. I think most of us have been there at one time or another.

The issue, with this kit specifically, is that for us to make this next step a reality (and a very promising one, at that) we need your support. Without your help in the near future, there won't be a reformed Orbital Kit (and perhaps not even a kit in its existing form) to purchase for that stereo when you finally do buy it.

I guess what I'm saying is, for those of you in the same situation, consider the support of this product now as an investment for something you will enjoy VERY much later.

Remember, as far as I'm concerned, everyone here can make a difference in bringing a product like this to the market. This is OUR kit, for OUR cars. It was demanded by ALL OF US and brought to the market by ALL OF US.

Honestly, you might be the reason i bought my evo. Everyone knows evo (IX and below has a craptastic interior)... Since i needed a DD i needed comfort, and above all 2DIN navigation was right up there on my list with AWD and TURBO. When i saw you product over a year ago my mind was set and this past saturday i purchased a IX. And wouldnt you know i had an orbital kit in my hand before i had an evo!! My ECLIPSE (very on topic) AVN6610 is on its way along with sirius nav traffic!!!! Regaurdless of the wait time/ or whatever for your product... it really speaks for itself.... IT IS SOLID. - a good product will sell itself... i am glad you got some recognition!

EDIT:: the fact that you are offering upgrading your existing customers to a better quality piece really speaks for you and your business. No matter how big stuff gets, always keep that mindset. BTW F-TEN is an awesome company, EVERYTHING they make is quality.

I've been waiting to get one, but you were about to pull the plug on the product. I'm in full support once it's back online and on the market.

Great to hear it.

I'll be posting an update when/if we add a pre-order option to our site to make this a reality.

Rich, if I already have the kit in my car do i have to take it out and send it to you to receive mines? If so I'm not to happy about that since I drive the car daily and I don't want my Navi just hanging there, it wouldn't look nice at all... Any idea how you would tackle this?

i honestly don't know as of yet. it's going to depend on how much support we have for the revision.

if we require an exchange, we'll do it at the customers convenience - you receive the revised parts, install them, and send back the old stuff...alternatively, if support is adequate and no exchange is necessary - you will be free to do as you wish with the older kit.

i'm sorry to hear that, but honestly, it's your loss. this is a great product and it's a shame that you couldn't join the 2-DIN crown because i haven't been available to answer our phones.

anyway, i'm not going to get into this right now. this thread is about the proposed revisions to our kit, support in favor or against, and nothing more.

if things go well, i might actually be able to afford some help around here...maybe then we can improve on that customer service you're talking so highly about

Wow Rich, if this is the case, I 100% back up your product! I will be one of the pre-orders and will review it for all to see as well!!!

Great news and best of luck!

Great Idea!

Rich, Your proposal sounds great. I am another satisfied customer that bought an EVO IX with the intention of installing a nav package right off. I will have to admit though I had ordered a Metallic finish kit in February 2007 and didn't get a grain kit until September. I was just happy that I got a kit at all when I heard that you were discontinuing production. I have to say that I had my heart set on the metallic finish, so I spent the extra time and money to fix that. I love the product, and I can only imagine what an improved model would be like. It would be a tough decision for me to trade in my old kit after the added expense, especially if you would only be offering a grain kit. I know that you previously had problems with your painter but my advise would be to explore bringing back both kits. If the new production process is so much better, it shouldn't be that big of a problem. I know there is probably a lot more to that discussion, basically I just want you to know you have my vote, and possibly another order! Keep up the great work!
