The outside material of the lava blankets can withstand 3x the heat rating of our fiberglass version. The lava also has a second insulation layer that is made from silica.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

It’s tricky for us to compare/contrast our products to those of specific competitors without being accused of unfairly “trashing” others. Therefore, we prefer to focus on why our customers choose PTP when buying a turbo blanket. With PTP, you can rest assured that the blanket you purchase has been developed from years of research and is known for its high standards for material selection, design, and construction. We are so confident in our products that we offer a full year warranty. We also provide customer service that is unmatched in the industry.

There are numerous differences between our products and our competitors’, such as our unique, cutting edge construction, the military-grade materials we use, and our precisely tailored, vehicle-specific turbo blanket designs. However, we’d prefer to have the differences between our products and our competitors’ be demonstrated by our customers’ testimonials.

Dan, I can say its better or at least it lasts longer than the DEI titanium one. I use my car for Road Racing purpose only and our local weather temperatures are on the 90F and the track temp to 125-135F.

The DEI I used to have it lasted 2 races and then it got toasted, it pulverized... At the time to replace it I did no wanted to go again with a Dei and went with a PTP because of their pricing and warranty that they offer on the blankets. They stand very well behind their product as I just had replace by them my old blanket that had 6 or 7 races on it, and it was starting to get bad.

Bump on a great product

Very tempting indeed... I'll be purchasing one very soon with my new setup.

Just a question though, I read somewhere before that applying a blanket over the turbine housing could generate so much heat inside the housing due to the lack of heat dissipation, that it could eventually lead the housing or the turbine to warp, or something of that nature. Is this true?

Obviously the turbo would need to be in attack mode for a long period of time for such affects to occur, what I mean is, could it decrease the life span of the turbine housing?

From the FAQs page on our website:
No. There is a misconception that the heat retained by the turbo blanket will cause damage to the turbocharger. This is not correct. Turbochargers are designed to handle well in excess of peak engine exhaust temperatures. Maintaining the heat of the exhaust within the turbocharger will not damage the turbocharger. However, as with all turbocharged vehicles, whether utilizing OEM or aftermarket turbochargers, it is very important to not shut off the engine directly after periods of heavy acceleration. It is advised by us, as well as all OEM and aftermarket turbocharger manufacturers, to allow a period of time to let the oil (and in some cases water) circulate and cool the turbocharger. We recommend that before shutting off the vehicle after periods of heavy acceleration, you should allow one to two minutes of idling to allow the turbocharger to cool down effectively. You may also consider purchasing a turbo timer to allow the engine to idle for a predetermined amount of time after you have left and locked your vehicle.

Can you tell us or link us to the model you are referring to?
