Forge Evo Ix Actuator Test
Forge Evo Ix Actuator Test
So I paid a visit to my homeboys over at FORGE motorsports here in Orlando last week. Finally got my hands on the long anticipated IX actuator! The actuator is very similar to the old VIII version but the newly upgraded design really helps hold your desired boost level thanks to the new piston design. Boost comes on in a more linier fashion and feels as smooth as silk while doing so.
I really love the piston design and the housing is actually smaller than the previous diaphram model. And since the new design incorporates a piston instead of a diaphram, these actuators are even more reliable.
From the billet body down to the stainless actuator arms, this is one bad *** product!
Once again thanks to Angel and Mike...
The IX actuator will not fit on an VIII unless you have a IX turbo on the VIII. Because of the IX's larger housing cover, the actuator bracket is different from the VIII's bracket.
I am not 100% but I do believe that the newly redisgned piston style is being offered for the VIII's as well. I will have to check after the holidays for you.
I would think that since the piston style replaces the diaphram making this a more reliable actuator, that it would be upgraded to the VIII's actuators too.
Boost controller is the Power Enterprise Gauge/boost controller. Which works excellant!

There is a specific unit used for Evo 8 OEM and OEM-based turbos and a completely separate unit used for Evo 9 OEM and OEM-based turbos.
Essentially, the actuator bodies and internals are the same, but there are different brackets, rods, and turnbuckles used between 8 and 9 turbos. They are not cross-compatible. An 8 unit will NOT work on a 9 turbo and a 9 unit will NOT work on an 8 turbo. We will be offering these new piston based units for all applications, however.
Officially, these units are not yet available to the public as we have been finalizing a few things, but we should be offering them to the masses within the next week or two.
AMS got the VERY first production unit we received from the UK and is dyno testing it.
GSC will be doing the same.
Scott at TTP helped us with some development on these.
Ruben is a local friend and has the first one released to the public.
Stay tuned.
These all-new piston-based units having been a long time coming and will be well worth the long wait!
