Your simplistic manner of expression is what is misleading. Were not talking about $50 or $500. Were talking about people having to constantly pay for retunes, for minor modifications. When one of your guys post about how a "sale" means they are NOT selling , that my friend is an assumption. You know what happens when you assume.
Our "sale" price is not because we NEED to tune more cars. It is a courtesy during rougher times for those in this economy. Maybe where you live people are rolling with burning pockets, but others might not have it.
Our time is just as valuable if not more. We have years of tuning experience compared to you. Price is not a reflection of tuning experience or tool capacity. We have the same tools and a better understanding of how the EVO works. It doesn't make sense to charge someone $185 to Touch up something you have already been paid to tune completely. Its simple AFR and timing adjustments. If the car were tuned right the first time, it would take about 10 minutes to "touch up". As a courtesy to an existing customer base, we don't nit pick and feel the need to recharge them for something that took longer to connect the laptop than to otherwise fix with a stroke of the key board.
Take it for what you will. Last year we tuned 637 EVO's This year we are well past the 400 mark and have slowed down a bit. How many have you tuned this year? Experience does speak for it self. I don't practice on customer cars, I use my experiences and our "tools" on them. Thats why it only takes a fraction of the time to tune and "touch up" Its a win for the customer as it should always be.

Sean, you have always been and will always be IMHO one of the best tuners in the world. We may have had some differences in the past, but that doesn't mean that my respect for others has changed. Keep up the good work as it seems your sarcasm hasn't last its stride either!

Nick, I shouldn't have said what I did. I did mean it the way it sounded. I owe you an apology for that comment. Sorry about that.

Good luck to the OP with finding a company/tuner that he feels comfortable with.

once again here we go..

another DTM is better than CBRD thread, lol...

and once again, i have no time for it...

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

pick who you are most comfortable with... go visit the shops, ask questions, make a decision... YOU have to feel its a fit for you, and who you are working with.

cheers

LOL!!

we only charge 185 if we are touching up a previous tune... if additions are made...

385.00 is our basic rate.... for a flash tune.

Dynos are great for numbers and measuring but nothing beats a good road tune IMHO. Lots of shops will get good results. Go with one that will dyno tune you and then put it on the road to clean it up. if you dont care about that dyno number, and have the means to log and reflash your own car. call tamer at 4WS Tuning. He will work around your schedule, give awesome results and works fast as hell to get you each next map, making as many changes as nessesary to get it perfect

I dont know, I agree with most tunes here that you shouldnt charge damn near close to the premium charge if your just touching up someones tune. Thats the only thing that drove me away from Ivey was his REALLY expensive tunes. Not to mention, you cant make ANY changes to yours or he refuses to retune you anymore. Pretty rediculous.

But I think you should go with whoever you feel comfortable with.

Wow, another drama about to get started. (grabs pop corn)

Here's my experience for OP's reference and some unbiased opinions.

First I went to Turbotrix in NJ because I thought Mark was "THE tuner" in the beginning. It took me 3hours to get there but hell I wanted get tuned by the best.

The ecutek flash I received cost me nearly $700 and wasn't even good of a flash.
The car was overboosting severly moment I walked out.

Lessons learned. And I start hearing multiple horror stories from people coming out of Turbotrix. Never went there again.

Then I went to DTM to get my problem fixed because they were the ONLY shop, and I mean the ONLY shop that could find the problem at the time. I tried many different sources but only speculations and no clear cut answers.

DTM charged me less than $300 for the flash and the car didn't have ANY problem afterwards.

Now I'm paying unbelievably cheap price for the big turbo tune.

Frankly, I don't care if they charged $500, I would still get mine tuned there because I care about my car.

Now, if you're in DC area I would say you could go to any of this place and should be fine.

-DTM
-BRAD@ISP
-CRBD

If you don't mind traveling a bit, you could also go to
-Buschur racing
-Jestr
-Sean Ivey
-Mellon

Just don't go to Turbotrix or Atlantic Motorsports.

That guy Ivey is ridiculous, terrible...............he should charge $100 with the dyno and overhead!!!! Matter of fact it should be free!!!!

$450 new customer/$350 retunes. We don't tune the car if you tune it yourself, what's the point, self tuners should.............self tune!!
