To the OP and Shark: have you tried very high rev shifting yet? I am talking in the region of 9000rpm.
I had a few clutch's already in my car and I just don't want to risk taking down the tranny so I put the best they make so I can sleep better.

I shift at 8500, 8300 very smooth I like it alot I'm looking for durability not like Tilton which feel's great and launches great when it's new and about 2 weeks down the road your done!

I am looking at the clutch in pictures. There is nothing updated about it. exact same clutch. Yes mine was used. Dont know what it sounds like when new. If you want to believe it will stay quite ignore my experience with the clutch.

I found a youtube video that records the sound of an OS Giken STR clutch in an NSX in neutral with the clutch engaged and disengaged. Completely silent when engaged, pretty noisy when disengaged. No info in video on condition of clutch or quality of install.

EDIT: Here is another vid of an OS Giken Super Single, supposedly brand new and installed in a POS Honda:

I have tried the super single as well. The single was a little less noisy than the twin. They both have a floating pressure plate so they both make noise. those videos are what the clutches sounded like when I used them.

A six cylinder engine has less engine harmonics than a four. so they would be less noisy. Four cylinders have the worst engine harmonics than any other engine design.

It rattles the driveshaft on decel with the best of them. rattles pretty good with clutch disengaged The engagement is pretty much like a 6 puck. smooth but direct. High RPM shifting is nothing special either. not much better than the factory clutch. I do like that throw out bearing conversion. Thats the nicest one I have seen. I would choose the spec or exedy twin over this clutch.

Sorry to everyone for being a bit absent from the thread, my 21st birthday was over the weekend and I haven't really been on the computer the past few days.

First link is from outside the car and it does sound pretty loud on the video but this isn't quite accurate. Used a Canon SD790IS point and shoot camera so the mic isn't really 'camcorder' quality. Picks up a lot of high pitch 'noise' but you can decide for yourself after watching all the videos.

I'm still on the stock block and head minus cams so I only rev to 7,800. Shifts great there, but to answer you're question I really couldn't tell you. The higher the RPM the smoother it engages so I would imagine it would go right in at 9K.

Just saw this and it really isn't a valid argument. My car idles smooth as glass and with the OS it doesn't make a peep when the clutch is disengaged (foot off the pedal). A good friend of ours has an Exedy HD in his 34 and it's hella loud in comparison.

It depends on the engine, what's done to it, and a great number of other factors. Not simply how many cylinders it has.

HAHA!! You got momma LC to jump in the car?!! Dang..your mom's cool, dude.

In person, it's not that loud or annoying to me. If the possibility exists that it: can hold power, doesn't lock you out, can be engaged in a civil manner, lasts at least 30K miles and doesn't have warping floater discs, then I am all about trying it.

Updates!

Just an update...

I have right over 1,300 miles on the clutch now and it still feels as good as new, possibly a bit better than when I first installed it. Still very smooth, very quiet comparatively speaking, and overall just great.

Finally got a chance to launch the car for the first time. Had a buddy come along and shoot some video so you guys could see how the car launches.

Launched it twice and it launched very well, very good modulation and nice and grabby while still being very easy to slip. Ended up launching it a third time messing with a new camaro on sat. night. He didn't want none after though.

Keep in mind, this is the very first and second launch ever on this clutch...

First one I let the clutch go a little too quick, got too much wheelspin and had to let off midway through 1st then get back in it.

Second one I slipped the clutch a little more, launched cleaner but still got lots of wheelspin. I need new tires!

Any donations?
