MAPerformance External Dump O2 Housing
MAPerformance External Dump O2 Housing
First I would like to thanks ChrisCarey at Maperformance for getting this shipped to me at a great price (20% off during cyber Monday). I installed it last week and so far I love it and love the sound it makes a WOT! The construction of this O2 housing is the best I seen, the welds are very nice and the stainless steel is thick and very smooth on the inside.
I got to say that installing an O2 housing is the hardest jot I done on my evo, I thought that the intake manifold was hard, I was wrong, this piece is hard, I did not wanted to remove the radiator but you need to remove it, otherwise is almost impossible. The o2 sensor, that was hard to get out, you need the right tool for this and then some.
Power wise I did a log in 3rd and saw that it was holding more boost at redline and I was hitting higher load cells, also boost was coming at about 300rmp sooner. Before I was hitting 23psi and holding 19 at redline now hitting almost 25 and holding 22 at redline and that is because the boost correction is kicking in. I will re-tune and try to post a graph of before and after using VDR to see how much horse power this part produces, I expect at least 10hp, will see!
Here are some pics of the install:

Another thing that I forgot to mention was the noise it produces,
this is what this car needed, you can only notice you have an open dump O2 when you hit WOT, other wise is just like stock.

I had to tap my a/c line with a rubber mallet & bend it towards the radiator about 1/4 of an inch of so...besides that I love the 02 dump...The 1 downpipe bolt is kind a bi*ch to get to because of how the dump tube runs...oh well...

The way the dump tube runs you can run ANY LICP...it just ends up real close or on the AC line...no big deal...like i said tap on it a little with a rubber mallet...good to go...
