HKS EVC VI Boost Controller
HKS EVC VI Boost Controller
Ok a month or so ago I got a HKS EVC VI EBC and I love it. This will put Greddy,AEM and just about any other basic controller to shame. If you want a Boost controller that will not tapper unless you have it set up for it this is the one for you. I say unless you have IT SETUP because unless you are on a Dyno to see your chart you cant tune it via EVO Scan or basic loggers.
I had a Hallman ProRX I think with the ceramic Ball and Stiff spring and it would spike badly in the colder weather and tapper like normal. I was boosting 24psi on a VIII 10.5 Turbo and tapper to 19psi by redline. When I installed the HKS EVC VI I was only able to get to 19psi target and hold it thru redline due to the boost holding and not dropping. It is able to drop boost by RPM but its only able to be done via a dyno session as it needs to be done correctly and safely. I was set up to goto 22psi target but I got six counts of knock so we dropped. When I get my Ported 84mm FP Red I will then re-tune and have it setup to either hold to redline if it can safely or to tapper off.
If you want to know the differance on the AEM Tru Boost and Greddy Profect B Spec I/II is that when you set it to your target boost level say 24psi it will goto 24psi but still tapper down like a MBC it also has less control over spike or boost creep. I had my EBC see the creep and it was because I slammed into boost in 2-3 gear and it shoot to 27.1psi but instantly dropped to 14.7 to my default of my WGA for safety and then came right back withing a split second to 19psi and 19psi from 2-6 gear it goes to maybe 20.6 PSI and its a monster holding boost all the way through the RPM Band.
Now as for install anyone can install it but unless you are familiar with the terms used and have a broad tech knowldge its not easy to setup the features and settings.
Its only 2 wires that tap to the ECU one for RPM and the other for Speed Sensor and it has all the plug and play harnesses for install. Then its just running the lines from the WGA and the J Pipe and to the Manifold not hard but setup/tuning it is.
If the scale was 1-10 and 10 being the hardest this install would get a 9 due to settting it up. If you have any questions feel free to PM me.
