Exedy Racing Stage 1 Organic Clutch Kit 05803A - Evo X
When I find something that works, I stay with it until it proves me wrong. I read some bad reviews on this clutch kit for the Evo X and bought it anyways. Exedy is the only clutch I have ever used for any build I have done for myself, and it has always been a great experience. The one time I strayed, it was a disaster, so I went back w/ Exedy and I will not use a different manufacturer again. Call me crazy, but it's worked so far.
In addition to the clutch kit itself, it also comes w/ an alignement tool, release bearing, grease, and literature. I installed the clutch myself (I have done them on Evo's before), and the install went smooth. I also had the flywheel resurfaced.
I FOLLOWED THE OEM SERVICE MANUAL FOR TORQUE SPECS, LUBE POINTS, ETC...
First drive:
I instantly felt a little bit of chatter taking off in first gear. That schit bothers me so I called Exedy. I spoke w/ Evan, and he was very nice and told me that IF it was installed correctly, that chatter should disappear after break in.
Correctly adv. [kuh-rekt-lee] : in a correct manner; or installing clutch disc on CLEAN surfaces, lubing required contact points, and using proper torque specs and handling procedures. Don't go eat buffalo wings and then handle the clutch.
Sure enough, 172 miles later, the chatter has disappeared completely. I think it says the full break in is 750 miles. It grabs friggin great, clutch engagement is great and I did not adjust the pedal, no noise on decel and pedal feel is a little heavier than stock. Car produces 365HP/375TQ and i'm not a fan of overkill so this clutch will be perfect for these numbers. When the power goes up, an Exedy clutch to support it will go in

I got 38,000 out of it with some track use, a few good launches, and about 10,000 of it was on e85 pushing 400hp.
It was a great clutch, and it will treat you well if you daily drive and aren't over powering it. I'm now using a Comp Clutch HD Street.
