IveyTune
IveyTune
After being very pleased with my Stock ECU Speed Density IveyTune i wanted to share my positive experience. For a fast, dependable evo look no further than IveyTune.
After completing the build on my Evo my quest for a tune began. I was dead set on an IveyTune but after hearing that he doesn't do SD on stock ECU I started looking for other options. I was bummed after 50k miles on his tunes and always having a dyno sheet with the power I'm making. Also, I have all my numbers from previous setups from his dyno I was hoping to compare to. Being from New Jersey the area is full of tuners, the problem is I wanted stock ECU SD tune, no remote tuning, no doing pulls on the street, a dyno graph and a knowledgable evo person to look over the setup as I changed everything and wanted piece of mind knowing I had not overlooked something.
After owning an Evo for 5 years and being an avid reader on EvoM I have heard and read a lot of horror stories, I have been there first hand for a few and have read even more before they were deleted, having said that it was between Ivey Tune and nobody. I'm not risking $10k on some shady joker with a keyboard. Another thing is my Aquamist HFS 1 meth kit was 4 years old and started acting up, I have only ran VP M1 so I was hoping to have that serviced also.
I called Ivey Tune and was put on the phone with a tech, he said he was familiar with the setup and could fix it. He suggested I drop the car off. We talked about a tune and he said it would be put on speed density with the stock ECU, I was so happy! Now that they have it perfected they started offering it. I got off the phone and started driving up there. I arrived, filled out paper work and a mod list, told him what I wanted as followed, meth kit switched to compression fittings, UICP solution for the Full Blown TB, speed density conversion installed, speed density tune and a solid look over the car for errors on my part. He had a very reasonable quote for me, told me they would start on it in three days. I signed and left. The next day I receive a phone call, the car work was finished but when he bench tested the meth pump the seal was bad and leaked, I had noticed this myself but forgot to mention it, he suggested a new pump replacement and had a new total for me. I was glad they notice it and drove up there to put a deposit on all parts. When I arrived the tech walked me to the car and showed me all the work, everything was perfect and I was very happy. He had noticed that I didn't have the metal clips for the wiring harness and installed ones on all the major electrical connections, more attention to detail. In the trunk of the car all the parts he had removed were located, down to every fitting, I hate when a shop "loses" or "misplaces" parts that are rightfully yours. Again, very happy to see that. All that was left was wait for the meth pump and the tune. The second time i went up there i had brought a 4" intake for them to install. With the little room left from my BOV placement the intake would have never fit, the tech called me right away suggesting a K&N on my current 3" intake, I approved and was glad they carry all the SD conversion pieces in stock. A little time later I get a phone call with the tune results, the car made great power and was on a break in tune. I was told to put a thousand miles on it and come back for the final tune. It was very reassuring to me that I had a chance to put some miles on the car before going all out. Ivey didn't put the car together so it was totally understandable. The car was returned back to me it the exact condition i left it, the brand new oem floor mats I had previously installed were spotless. The speed density tune was amazing, my maf Iveytune was always wonderful but this was something else. I was very pleased with the drivability and power. After the thousand miles and two more oil changes i received my next appointment. The night before i checked my tire pressures, fluids and did a boost leak test. Found three leaks and a line that pops off at 30psi. Corrected them and off to Ivey the next day. When i arrived i talked to Ivey about the car, explained what i liked and what i was getting use to with the tune. He asked me how far i wanted to take it and i said i wanted an IveyTune, after four years of over 30psi, 100’s of track slips, 1000’s of pulls and ZERO break downs, whatever i leave there with i know will be perfect. When i received the car back a couple hours later it was an animal, spooled fast and pulled hard. He took my feedback and made the drivability even better. I have about 200 miles on it now and not a single hiccup. Outside air temps have been from 61 to 95 and not once has it stalled or acted funny, even after letting it sit for 40 minutes the car idles and drives perfect. I would suggest to anyone to get a stock ECU Speed Density IveyTune.
IveyTune is a shop you can TRUST, a very hard thing to find in this industry.
A+ in Service
A+ in Parts
A+ in Tuning
My reason for keeping the stock ECU is emissions, NJ requires emissions inspection every two years. I refuse to have a fake sticker or do a drastic overhaul to pass inspection. The car is driven year round and i wanted the dependability of the stock ecu but with max power of a SD tune.
As for the numbers and mods they will be posted soon in the Dyno Tuning and Results section. Im trying to put together all five years of mods/dynosheets/track times into one thread.

I am glad you mentioned the problem with Emission tests.
I want to make power but I also don't don't to be a smog machine.
What I find is that most tuners will look at you funny and shut the door in your face if you remotely seem to be concerned with the dreaded "E" word.
From your review, I think I am on the right path talking to Sean's sale reps.

I wanted to update this, 3500 miles so far and car runs flawless. On a 500 round trip to VT I averaged 28MPG cruising at 75-80. Car went 11.22 @ 127.40 w/ 1.76 60'. Car is full weight, sub, spare and jack. I was hoping to go 10.9 this fall but a stupid street race cost me 3rd gear synchro, wasn't even a miss shift. At this point I prob wont fix it till winter. I'm temped to drop the car off at IveyTune and say fix it.
The car runs flawless, when I start it I let it idle for 2-4 minutes every time and then off I go. Throttle is crisp and not a single miss or hesitation. When I first got tuned after the car warmed up and sat for 30 minutes when you tried to drive there would be a 1 second delay and then back to normal. I told Sean of the problem and he fixed it with the second tune. My APS sounds like a muffled tial, I like the sound of it.
IveyTune is at there best right now and will put you on the right path. I'm just not a fan of anything remote but it does work great for people. Right now all my emission systems are still there and car will pass inspection with just a cat install.
