Question Vishnu Stage 1+ Turbo Upgrade Questions/Recommendations

Currently running Vishnu Stage 1+ (Xede, Xflash, 264/272, Vishnu standard turbo-back exhaust, 660 injectors, Walboro 255, Buschur Upper intercooler piping with mini-battery, Defi Heads-up display and boost gauge)

Became too used to the current power and need more power for excitement.

Strongly considering the ATP GT3071 w/.63 A/R. ATP Link

What turbo manufacturer does Vishnu prefer/recommend to work with? Vishnu has done all my tunes since March '03 and no problems 28k miles later.

Will the ATP kit work with the turbo back exhaust? Or you think I can do without their downpipe? Will I even need that whole kit?

Don't want to turn this into a turbo manufacturer bashing, but any other turbo manufacturer recommendations?

What's average shop rate for turbo upgrade? Time?

So far I've really only seen Smog and IE really post up with upgraded turbo info in the Vishnu world.

Any info/recommendations would be appreciated. Thank you.

Since u've stage 1+ go with the Vishnu stage 3 u'll be much happier, trust me I saw ATP 3071, 3037. Vishnu stage 3, AMS gt35r on Shiv's DD dyno. Vishnu stage 3 or AMS kits are the way to go. you'll thank me later.

What's up Wilson?
No, didn't run after that. A few issues (incl. a destroyed radiator) had to be taken care of first.
Might be at the track this Sat.

Are you going to stick w/ the 3037??

Maybe, I'm waiting for a proto piece that conect the stock mani to the Garett housing, which replace the ATP's hot side. Vishnu has it in the Red car, they want to tune it on race gas first, to see what kind of # it makes. If not I'll see if I can change to a stage 3. All this is making me crazy. Can u give any advise???

evotomig: What are the spool characteristics of your GT35 setup, which cams are you running presently and how are they set?

What about stage 2?Which turbo would be the better choice.I'm wondering how much power can that 3071 from ATP put out on a full stage 1+ car?I've only heard of 1 person using that turbo/exede combo which put down 297 on 91 oct and that was without cams/cam gears.

I'd also definitely pass on the 3071 and get a 3037 or a GT35

Yeah, I definitely wanted to go the Vishnu stage 3 route. However, that part of their website has not been updated for almost a year.

It's probably because the person that's running the website is the same person that always got his butt kicked on our dyno days in Texas.................. <cough> David <cough>. He's trying to keep all that power info to himself. JK

Seriously though, anyone have the details/cost on the stage 3?

on the atp 3037 kit shiv was abld to put down almost 380 whp on 100 octane. the only problem was there was a bit of lag. dont get the 3071. its not worth the upgrade. this was done on stock fmic btw.

Sanantone,
Don't sell the stock turbo short. The 10.5ti turbo is $900 bucks. If I did it over again, I'd port match everything while the car was apart. This, along with a good FMIC and you have an amazing 91octane setup and an 11sec 1/4 mile car on race gas.

Smog, I've read many of your posts during your 10.5 path. However, do you mind recapping your advice on the 10.5 now that you're just about done with that project? Where'd you purchase from? Pros/cons? Limitations? At what point will it max out? etc. I'd appreciate it.

The main benefit is piece of mind. It is still just like stock, with no worries of cracked manifolds and completely stock appearance. If I had more cash to play with, I'd try out the Magnus intake manifold, ported throttle body to match it, and I'd port match my head - both intake and exhaust. I'd port and polish my stock exhaust mani, turbo, and O2 housing. Finally, I'd sell my 264 and get a 272 intake cam. That would finish it! That should be good for 11.7 at 117 mph. Donations accepted.
