Wow, impressive driving. Irregardless of the modification level, Paul is obviously the fastest driver and can make up a lot of ground for those running more dedicated track setups.

Smoggy, hey I am glad you had a good time and that Paul did really good in your car. I wish I could be there and see Paul lay the smack down on your squishy tires.

It's amazing to see paul turn some great numbers with your car, now I can only image what would have happened if the Red Beast was entered into that event.

Congrats Smog on your car's great setup. Congratulations to Paul as well.

Could you comment on the Ohlins suspension regarding how it compares to the stock suspension?

I have been contemplating getting the Ohlins myself.

hahahaha....right. even if I haven't seen the car yet...I can tell this would be a good street car, that you can drive to the track and back - no problem (like a 993, 996 sorta).

not some drag car that's high-strung, wanting high-octane juice all the time, or a pure track car that needs its independent ECU "monitored" like a baby

- although I think this is a fun setup , I would prefer the former

The main benefit to the Ohlins I was running is that they are truly a street-track setup in that they literally ride better than stock but are faster than stock on the track. I am 40 years old and I have no interest in bouncing down the road in my daily driven Evo. If Paul gets the time, I'll let him go into the specifics about how he likes the Ohlins.

Hey Smoggie, You give me hope, since my neighbors think I am to old for my Evo at the ripe age of 34.

For all the folks arguing in this thread, EOC #3 was about instuction, not racing. Any of the fastest drivers will go much faster on a race day than a driving school event. Speaking for myself, I was more interested in running 30 folks safely around the track who are starting to really drive fast, btw! I was also trying to get the car setup for next weekend's Evom.net event, rather than trying to run a really fast time. The same can be said for Robi, who was struggling with getting his monster under control with several issues at the same time.

Instead of arguing on the internet, come out to the events and participate in real, not virtual driving. You will realize very quickly that modding the driver is the fastest way to make your car faster and safer.

Thanks to everyone who participated. It was a pleasure to meet Paul and see smogrunner again. Btw, thanks goes out to smoggy for making eoc # 3 breakeven by bringing himself and Paul Girard to the event.

I look forward to the day when we have enough well trained folks racing evo's to run EOC competitive events!

And a good front differential, along with some additional suspension tuning, is going to transform that car into the ultimate street evo.
