Any more pics? Who built the cage? Did it tie to the suspension pickups? Also interested in what kind of weight reduction techniques were deployed besides stripping it out?

Too bad about the mechanical failures, but a big to Vishnu and the guys at C&D for giving it a shot. Hopefully next time will supply a mint condition RS instead of a flogged MR. Don't they realize that things like this will only hurt their image?

NEways ... I WANT THAT SPLITTER!!!! Chrono, do you have engineering drawings for it that I could take to a local fabricator? Does it replace the entire undertray? If so, could it be extended to also replace the cross-brace and thus further smooth out the underbody airflow?

engineering drawings! errr no, you obviously haven’t visualized the frantic pace that prevailed before the race!!! There are cardboard cut-outs of the mock-up (about a dozen pieces make it up). The real trick is a fabricator that is a good enough welder to keep it from warping as they weld it. It was not fun to build (as opposed to design). We need to integrate the splitter right into it and add brake cooling ducts to the piece that seals the splitter to the nose. THEN find someone who will bust them out in carbon

Ok.. It seems all of you had a great time and certainly put on quite a show. Shiv.. you remind me of what I looked like 30 yrs ago as a combat engineer (ya little runt). Glitches in racing are the norm as we all know and success can be measured in many ways. Now once again you guys have shown the world you are really made of. I have the Vishnu team and car pic as my back ground. Happy holidays guys..and BRAVO .

Did you look at all the shots on C&D.com? They have a good one from the front and the side:

Amazingly enough, a 4G63T engined car has finished an endurance race before (there may be more than the one I am thinking about). The Spirit of Daytona Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX was a car that ran in the 24 Hours of Daytona about 5-6 years back. It placed 24th overall, and 10th in its class, I believe. The dealership who sponsored the car bought the car from the Archer Brothers who had raced it in SCCA for years. It was one very well set up car.

" RICK LOVECCHIO (Team Member for No. 09 GT3 "Spirit of Daytona" Mitsubishi
Eclipse GSX) -- (The Spirit of Daytona entry had picked up approximately ten positions
as the race moved into the its third hour) We've got our race face on and we're just
running our own race. We dodged a couple of bullets early on but we're looking good.
We pretty much had the car set up before we took the green flag, but the main thing is
running our pace. There's a lot of guys out here that have never been here and they
have no idea what the 24-hour deal is. Everybody on this team is very experienced
with this race car, We run a lot of races during the year, SCCA-type races, so we're
very familiar with keeping our pace and running our race. Attrition plays a big part in
this race, If our car does what it's supposed to do for 24 hours, we will be there in the
end."
"TODD FLIS, (No. 09 GT 3 Spirit of Daytona Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX) - I just did a
double stint in the car. The car is running great, we're just picking our way through the
pack slowly but surely which has resulted in us picking up several positions. We've
had a pretty clean race. The good guys are real courteous and some of the guys get
real close to you, but that is racing. The lighting at six o'clock was tough coming down
through the stands, but once it gets dark you get used to it. The car has run real good
and we're happy to be where we're at."

Check out that splitter :

"Probably one of the most overlooked turtles on the track was this Daytona Mitsubishi
sponsored Eclipse. Driven by Craig Conway, Todd Flis, and Eric Van Cleef. The Spirit
of Daytona team finished 24th overall, 10th in class, and completed 563 laps for 2,004.3
miles. Nice job."

Nice job to the Vishnu team, as well. I'm sure that you guys will be back doing this again.

I know youve flashed that before and now I have a great understanding how hard it is to compete for 25 hours. I reread that same article during the info gathering we did
