My ODB2 scanner was $140 at O'Reilly's, it's got a blue body and does everything I could ever think of. I will have to remember to look at what its called when I get in the car at lunch.

The one thing I have noticed since installing the XEDE (other than more power) is if I lift off the throttle under load reasonably quickly (i.e. a quick load->no load transition) in 5th gear the car stumbles for a couple of crank revolutions, then smooths right out. It's almost like compressor stall because it feels like the MR BOV isn't releasing quickly enough, but it only does it in 5th and no other gear (and this is just cruising and slowing to avoid someone entering my lane or something).

Have we ever considered the CAS replication may be slightly suspect in the V2 firmware? I know the V3 firmware has completely revised CAS replication algorithms, I'd be very happy to try it out and put up with the CEL just to see if the general driveability improves. It seems that under relatively light load there is something triggering the P0300 - when I am driving the nuts out of the car it pulls like a raped ape without missing a beat (and I am still 2lbs below Stage 0+ boost target - I pulled some boost out due to the weather changing to frequently here at the moment and being very easy to overboost).

Other than that P0300 may be a warning to a series of maladies that ODB2 just lumps together as a "misfire", but I haven't looked enough at the ODB2 spec to see.

I do like the XEDE very much, its boost control is ROCK solid compared to the crap my UTEC used to do to me in the WRX and everything else seems great....this is the only persistent thing that's starting to get on my nerves.

Cheers

Rich

One other thing, I pulled all the plugs and put in a set of NGK BPR8ES gapped to slightly under factory specs - and they are all clean, showing no signs of detonation, rich running conditions or hotspots after 1k miles.....so I don't think it's plugs (or the gas I am using).

No CAS is good but would you believe there are only 4 teeth for the CAS on the EVO?

I experience the exact same thing....
Have you tried disconnecting the XEDE?

I would change them to the BR8ES's....instead of the BPR8ES'S

*THIS IS NOT A THREAD JACKING*

Just a note, the scanner I've gotten (AutoXray EZ-SCAN 5000) also provides live engine diagnostics, and the firmware is upgradeable. I purchased one of the $140 units (don't remember brand, but it looked a lot like a tv remote); took it back and got the EZ-SCAN

FWIW, my car does the same exact thing in 5th gear. I don't have the Xede, but I do have a Forge Motorsports Diverter Valve installed - and it didn't start until then. If I have the radio way down, I car hear it releasing air during this stumble - much like a BOV.
I hadn't really thought much of it being harmful...

Yup - it didn't do it on my stock BOV, but that was leaking like a sieve anyway, so I guess the MR BOV is too stiff now

Dammit, modifying cars is such a pain in the ****

What cams do u have? I have the P0300 and when it comes on it really does shut down the cylinder. The car loses power and shakes and rumbles. My P0300 goes off around 3000 rpms in 5th gear. So I was wondering if I got cams if it would do it all the time.
