Constant P0300

Hey guys,

The temperature here in TX has dropped considerably in the past couple of days and my car is CONSTANTLY throwing P0300 - under very light load, sometimes just idling. It never used to do this before...any recommendations (other than the stupid Mitsu flash?).

Cheers

Rich

Just out of curiosity, Rich, what is the build date on your car?

My suggestion is to wait until Mitsu has a flash that actually works.

It rolled off the line in October 2k3. I'm waiting on the cams at the moment, I'm actually really enjoying the car at just stage 0+. I will get some gears in the New Year and think about cams after that.

How many miles are on your car and how long (in miles) were you at stage 0+ before the P0300 code appeared?

6700 miles currently, 800 of them with the stage 0+.

I got the P0300 perhaps twice before installing my XEDE, it's fairly regular now, like twice a day although if I leave my ODB2 scanner plugged in it never happens - very strange.

i have a 2003 evo as well and i have a stage 1 with cams etc. po300 has been on constantly now since the new cams, colder weather etc. i use to get it before but it would come and go but for the last couple of weeks that my car has been working it has been with the po300 error constantly throwing the cel light. anyways wondering if there will ever be a fix for this.

Just pisses me off to see so many people having problems with P0300 code and Mitsu not doing anything about it.

With stage 1+, I had it once or twice; however, since I went catless, it's always on

I just had my plugs replaced (they still looked fine) and installed the new harness that Vishnu sent me.
Looks like the problem got worse. Instead of misfiring (it doesnt just throw a code because you can actually hear and feel the misfire) under medium/heavy load at 4000 rpm, I now get it even under light loads at 3000 rpm and even got one at 5200. This was constant, as it would come on almost as fast as I delete the previous code with my scanner.
I finally unplugged my XEDE last weekend and the car ran like stock again...no P0300 codes or misfires the last 2-3 days. I'm sending my XEDE back to Vishnu today. Hopefully they can figure out a solution to this since it may be more common than previously thought.
Dave, Shiv or any of the Vishnu crew.... a quick response response and action will be appreciated.

Well, for what its worth, I've never had this problem, but I the dealer tried to reflash and fried my computer system, had to replace the whole dang thing. They did flash the new ECU, and I've not seen this. However, I'm going out on the road today to head to Little Rock for Christmas with the family, I just sat my scanner with the rest of my bags ....

Oh, and to answer a question previously asked, although not asked of me; I've got the Autoxray EZ-SCAN 5000, just a tad over $500.00 at the local O'Reilly's. Its a nice toy ...
