then you will spank his ***, a bigger turbo will make up for AWD out of the hole. just the 272s on the stocker will help. If you lose the 600 lbs of weight, add the 272s, I will guarantee you just made up 1 to 1.5 bulengths right there.

then if you decide to get the GT35 you just added another 1.5 buslengths, so now you are ahead by at least a buslength or more.

Here's a rundown of nearly 30 years worth of Lotus Esprits. Racing versions easily produce over 550bhp.

You are thinking of the Elise, completely different car. A Elise is quick, but not nearly as quick as its older brother.

Thanks for the correction. Definitly sounds like a and looks ^^ like a purebred machine.

To put things into perspective, realize that EVOs run quick from a stop because of their good midrange torque, low gearing and AWD setup. Once you get up to hwy speeds, your advantage will lessen to the likes of a more aerodynamic V8 car...especially a V8 Esprit turbo. Going from a 100mph roll would be the last scenario in which you'd want to try your luck against the Lotus or any similar exotic. You'll be catching air like a parachute in his slipstream.

Your Stage 1 probably puts out as much HP as the lotus, but you weighed at least an extra 500 lbs before you added your passengers (~500lbs more).

Try again w/ out the ride along spectators and see what happens.
What year was it? My brother has a 1994 s4. Its a 2.2l with 274hp. With just a chip it put him up to 296. They are so potent and sexy. The only thing that is kinda gay with those cars are the boost. It is regulated by heat. If it doesnt get to a certain temperature, you dont get full boost. Otherwise, that thing is a sweet car and pulls pretty damn hard due to its weight.

I'm not sure about the year. I just know I spent many an hour scheming up ways to own one. The V8 Lotus just gives me a stiffy thinking about it. Being beaten by one on the track would be an honor.

Anything '97 or later is a turbo V8, and will blow your doors off from 100mph on up. That's almost certainly what you encountered.

Owning one is for the brave. You need to be either financially fluid enough to pay for *lots* of servicing, or be a Lotus mechanic with your own car lift and service bay.

As an English friend of mine once put it, "Lotus" stands for:

(L)ots
(O)f
(T)rouble,
(U)sually
(S)erious

Thats what those Lotus were made for. Their Weight, Power range(hence max power at 6500RPM), Gearing, and slipperiness. Check out how we got demolished by the TT Vipers and TT Vetts in the Car and Driver supercar challenge from 100-150

the new lotus are all TT v8's. absolutely amazing. the thing about lotus, they know how to make their motors. there is a reson the lotus designed heads were put on dozens of cars including the legendary ZR1 vette. lotus also is helping design the suspension on the new R35 skyline!!! a darn good company, i mean just look at their elise, is pure aluminum sex!!! mmmmmmmmmmmm...thats good stuff. The Lotus Esprit is just increadiable and you can get a new one for like $80,000. so you can get a car that will play with ferrari's in both speed and style for half the price.

i have driven one, HOLY CRAP BATMAN! the car is fast, just fly's. you will hit 80 before you even realise it

FWIW, you won't get a new one for $80k because they are no longer in production.

I rode in the 4 cylinder turbo version and that thing was fast. At higher speeds it still pulled like crazy. I cant imagine the twin turbo v8...
