ExedeFlash

Ok. After a rather interesting conversation with another Exede-equipped Evo owner, I now hear I need an ExedeFlash along with my Exede ECU. What exactly is this and why do I need it?

you don't actually need it, but you can get rid of some fuel cut along with raising the rev limiter. Making you run more power.

EDIT: From what I have researched if vishnu guys want to step in.

Sounds like you are getting mixed up between the Exede and the stock ECU flash as you mentioned Exede flash. Need to flash the stock ECU to adjust rev/speed and boost cutouts and also to tailor larger injectors. It isn't required until you start running serious power such as adding a bigger turbo.

as i understand it the exede is the controlling thingy ma bober. so u have to have that tuned by professional. not just plugging it in. and the Flash is Using the ecu only and changing parameters through the obd II port. So if u have exede installed have it tuned for the rest of ur mods, but make sure the person doing it really knows their stuff. A tune that will pass one time down a drag strip and be ok is not always going to be safe under a road race condition. Have heard stories of going for that last little bit of power costing the engine. Good luck and be safe with it, really not worth the drama.

I know you have to tune the Exede piggyback. What I was referring to is flashing the stock ECU along with tuning the Exede. Boostfed is hitting his fuelcut on a stage1. I have hit fuelcut on a cold day with only catless TurboBack exhaust... I'd like to know what else is changed on the factory ECU in this "Flash"The Vishnu guys aren't going to respond here because they are mad at me...which is fine by me. I was wanting people who have had it done to respond.

I don't think they are mad at you
IMO to get the best from the evo at a stage 1 or 1+ level you need to run a bit more than 21 psi peak...this can be done although you will need the Xedeflash to do it..
The Xedeflash also removes factory speed limit (159 mph)
and raises the rev limit to 7800 from 7400...

The Xedeflash is only required for stage 1+. Stage 1s especially catless guys can take advantage of the boostcut feature to a degree but truth be told your running boost past your boost targets for a stage 1. If you want to do it right (right in terms of the prescribed "stage" approach) its easy by opening up the boost map ("unknown map") highlighting the cells from 30(y-axis) 3KRPM (X-axis) to 100 (y-axis) to redline (x-axis) and pressing "<" key a few times till the boost overshoot is taken care of

Andrew...are you capable of doing the XEDE flash at your shop??

or is there no way around shipping my ECU to Shiv?

No and No. Well, if you come to a Vishnu dyno day at Dyno4mance, Shiv can flash the ECU on site.

In my situation. and Xede flash would be very helpful. I'm hitting fuel cut a little earlier then I should. I'm not even able to run the stock 19.5psi(was hitting full cut at anything over 18.5-19psi ). once I get rid of my MBC and let the Xede control the boost and have the Xede flash. it'll make a little more power. boost is kinda low. peaking a little over 17psi and falling off to 13psi. I'm still very happy with the power I'm making. I think when I go back down to have my Cam gears install and retuned. I'll have all the little bugs worked out and I'll be really happy.

here's a graph of the boost and AFR.

here's a the dyno graph whp/tq

Thanks for the replies. I'll probably let Shiv flash the ECU when he comes down to Dyno4mance later this year. I should be at stage 1++ by then. (272Cams, I/C)

You'll enjoy the Xedeflash and the extra midrange. I hope everything works out for the best.
