I wasn't implying that his margin of safety wasn't enough. I was implying that it is very good, meaning it would have to be VERY bad gas or a bad pump to cause enough starvation/low enough octane to cause a problem.

I installed the colder plugs that came as an option on my stage1, back when vishnu had their old website it was shown as an option along with the samco hoses and steel braided brakelines, so i got them all (cept the samcos, they still arent in and its been almost 2 years), so now how bout that

I agree gap some NGK br 8es plugs and gap them a lil tighter. Also try different gas stations and determine which station gas make ur car feel smoother. I have to gap my plugs real tight 24 at the most to make my car run optimal. With higher boost this will prevent the spark being blown the *** out. BTW Open Cam gears can be costly. I hope nothing got in there.

I agree with IE, and maybe you did get something sucked in the cam-gears, and now there wobbly and not true anymore. the culprit has been long spit-out or smashed by now leaving only a small clue as to what happened. You can have my stock cam gears is you want them!

I think there is, call gruppe-s. you cant see the cam gears when your driving anyway, make the cover quick-release so you can take it off in an instant! I agree it looks cool! but its not worth the risk of a dust patricle causing a roasted motor!

Not that this is a guess toward my best 2 out of three, but since I dont know your mods, if you have a WEAPON-R engine dampner ( as I do) the engine vibrations are now transmitted to the body of the car, and can make the noise your talking about. mine happens at 3-4K rpm, not always, the harmonic vibrations must be at the right ossilations. I guess this could happen if you have polyurethane bushings as well, possibly even if your motor mounts go bad. update us on your mods!!!!!!!!!!

Ive got vishnu turboback exhaust with cat, hks 272/272 cams, vishnu cam-gears, 10.5 hotside, custom tuned xede, xedeflash, colder plugs. No dampners or bushings or anything that would cause extra vibrations, unless like you said my motor mounts are going bad, but i only have 3,000 miles on it? Im still running stock rims and tires , clucth, flywheel, and really dont think any are wearing out with the milage ive put on them.

Question

If this happened after the tune, could you be having a misfire problem?

If it is a misfire problem, when you hear the "noise" keep your foot in the gas, if it stays, its a misfire problem. if you take your foot off the gas when you hear the noise, then immediatley back on the gas, and the sound doesnt happen again.........a misfire code is thrown. My misfire code disappeared with V3, but that is what it did with V2. I NEVER had the misfire code UNTIL i had the car dynoed. 25K previous miles without code.
