Question Any maps for Cyl. Head job & 280 cams?

Would like to know if any maps exist for polish/port head with larger springs, as well as 280 HKS cams. Please help. Should I wait to do this until maps are avail? Have all upgrades but stock turbo.

You could always drive up to AMS and have Martin custom tune it for you.

...btw AMS 3071R coming sooooon.

Hello Ludikraut,

I am going to have AMS do the job, but CAN AMS tune with an XEDE? I am wating to see on the turbo kits, also waiting to see which kit you get, you have been researching the heck out of it, and will save me alot of foot-work!

I think Quickshifter is saying he does not agree with map sharing when your mods are a lot different from others....
He has a point, I am not keen on sharing maps as I have seen cars perform very differently even though they are thought to be the same

I agree with Andrew - my map is for 272's, ported head & some other things - but even my buddy with almost the exact same setup now has different settings in his Xede when I looked at Xmap.

With a good flowing ported head you will have to add full. Most Maps on Xede are - fuel in them.

My Best

I was at AMS a couple of days ago and talked with Eric at length about their turbo kits as well as Martin tuning my XEDE. Apparently Martin has tuned a few XEDEs and the only issue with tuning is if you want him to road tune your setup, or if you want him to tune on a dyno. Unfortunately AMS' dyno is 2wd, so if you want a dyno tune, you either have to pay them to convert your Evo to 2wd for the tuning session, or you have to rent out the Porsche Exchange dyno.

For now I am getting the 3071kit, which in my case will consist of:
780cc injectors
custom down pipe to connect to the Vishnu signature exhaust
retain MAF on the intake
retain recirc on the new, 3" intake pipe
Garrett 3071R turbo
AMS 304 SS Thick Wall Tubular header
Tial wastegate
+... whatever other parts are included with their kit...

I am also having everything ceramic coated in black.
Lastly I am having them install an Exedy Twin Carbon clutch and Martin will custom tune a map or two for my XEDE.

I can't afford to build up the 2.0l block right now, and I don't have easy access to racegas, so I decided to stick with the 3071. Once I build up the engine, switching to a gt35r will be easy. All AMS has to do is to swap the turbo itself, larger intake pipe and larger injectors ... I am told that selling 780cc injectors and the 3071 won't be much of a problem, so the upgrade won't be all that costly

if you want more details, feel free to pm me.

^^ It kinda sucks that AMS doesn't have an AWD dyno.......they are a DSM tuner shop, so u would assume they would have one! I actually talked to Tim about it and he said they could have put one in for an extra $40K.......which i thought was not that big of a deal ......So know I'm debating whether i want a custom street tune or a dyno tune. I really wanna have some numbers, but i really dont wanna pay an extra $300, so I'm really at a loss! Anyone know of a place where they have an AWD dyno in IL?

^^ The Porsche Exchange has an AWD DynoJet that you can rent out by the hour. That is where we had the Chicago dyno day last year.

I will PM you Ludi, you got it down to a science! I misspoke at the start, I meant to say is there any cars Shiv has tuned with the mods in Question, so all I have to do is download the XEDE maps, to at least get the car driveable until I get re-dynoed! Sorry for the confusion, and thanks for the clarification Andrew.

Heres what i'm worried about. I thought about doing the same thing as you and switching later on, so in another one of AMS's threads I specifically asked if they sold their kit with everything EXCEPT the turbo, and they said Absolutely not.

So . . . unless someone with another kit or decides to fabricate their own wants to buy that turbo, seems like you'd have a fairly hard time selling it, especially since AMS won't sell their kit in pieces.

It's my understanding that as far as the connections go, it's a standard Garret GT turbo, no? So any kit that can accomodate a Garret reverse scroll turbo should work, I'd think.
