A simple ? for the XEDE experts

One month of the XEDE, and I'm loving it! I'm so happy I bought the XEDE, and I'm so happy with Vishnu, I'm recommending everyone I know with a Mitsu/Suby to Vishnu.....

Anyway, here's my ? for you guys: My XEDE is tuned for my mod setup + 93 octane. Someone in town told me about a gas station selling 104 or 106 octane, he couldn't remember, for like $4-$5/gallon. Would it hurt anything (other than my wallet) if I filled up on this since my XEDE is set for 93 octane? Or, would I have to upload a different map before filling up on this gas?

Thanks for the help.

Won't hurt, but you won't notice much performance difference unless you upload the race fuel map of appropriate octane.

Get the map. Should be easy since you have standard mods.

Does that Charpei sit on your rear deck and nod it's head?

If vishnu doesnt provide a race map for your mods, you can make your own. There's a sticky thread that explains how to do it. i tried it and believe me.. race gas is addicting!! Waay better than **** 91

Don't forget to make sure the fuel is unleaded. Leaded fuel can damage a stock vehicle. EDIT: which I now see that you aren't.

I think the 110 that they sell at Willow Springs here in Cali is leaded. So use only the 100 octane.

Although it may eventually damage your oxygen sensor (which will have to be replaced - its not cheap.) Other than the 02 sensor - what other components could be damaged by leaded gas?

Note that I have been running a full tank 110 leaded on my race gas map at least once a week for the last couple of months with no ill effects.

If your running a CAT with leaded or race gas it can get damaged as well.

I take it you're talking about my dog in my profile pics. Actually, she's an English Bulldog... Nah, she doesn't get in my car very often, she slobbers too much. Super fun dog though.

I guess the consensus is that I should upload a different map to get the most out of running race gas.

How much of a HP gain could I realistically expect? 20 hp?

Check my stage 1 Graph. This was a mix of 100 Unleaded and 93, pure 100 would be slightly higher.

With my stage 1++ I make 307whp on 93oct and 324whp on ~110oct. The tourqe is alot higher between the two, I just can't remember the numbers. (On a DynoDynamics Dyno).

Just nake sure you get the right map from the Vishnu website.
