Water injection control not using the XEDE?

Just purchased the SMART XEDE upgrade . I am custom tuned by SHIV and I have the Stage 1 +. Let say after I install the SMART upgrade I add water/meth injection and I don't want to wait for SHIV to come back around to Dallas(probably next year) Will I see any gains?

Ohhh and by the way it is a cooling mist system.

Of course you will see gains. Just use the installation suggestions that your water injection manufacturer recommends for turbo applications. I've been using the Aquamist 2D system on my Evo and it works independently from my Xede. I have it injecting my water mixture at about 15 PSI and I also have a High Speed Valve that injects my water mixture rate according to the engine demand. I just had the S.M.A.R.T. system installed by Shiv this past weekend at Tuning Technologies and everthing is working great all together.

I have the same set-up as EvoTio, but mine kicks in at about 7-8 psi.
You will not see much gains by water spraying alone. You have to take advantage of the benefits of wi (lower intake charge and better resistance to knock) by leaning your a/f and advancing your timing.

That really depends on your current tune. If you car isn't knocking or pulling timing now then you wont see much of a gain. But even on my stock even I could feel the car pull timing as it began to heat soak the IC. The addition of H2O alone help fight knock as well as lowers intake temps. If you start to add alchy and meth thats when the tuning really comes into play. That being said SMART should be able to determine that there's no knock or retard and advance timing/increase boost.

you could also lose power with a injection kit install....

you spray too much and it will bog down your motor....you have to take advantage or the benefits or either your car has to be already hurting to take advantage by just hooking up the kit.

from his initial post... it's custom tuned by the Shivmaster so i doubt that he is knocking or getting his timing pulled.

Ahhh.....odds are his still pulls timing.....I have yet to see an EVO that didn't overwork its custom tune. The amount you inject is all done by math. I used 30% of the max IDC reached. I don't feel it come on but I can see full timing and no knock even during a 30 minute lapping session.

I have a question about WI. Can I install a WI ssytem simply for safety purposes? I want to keep the same 100 octane tune that I have. That tune is around 11.2:1 in the high rpms and the timing map in the Xede is zeroed out.

I simply want to add WI so that I will not get detonation on hot days on the track. Is it possible to run WI w/o having to re-tune for it? Would I lose power if I do not re-tune?

My idea is simple: If I keep the same tune and happen to run out of water in the WI reservoir, then I will not blow up my engine.

Would that work?

Also, did people ever figure out how to use the Xede with the Aquamist 2d or 2c?

If you are running 100 octane at a 11.2:1 you probably wont see any knock.

If you want H2O injection for knock resistance than you can add a small injector to just spray water into your road race map. If you set it for 15PSI and above you shouldn't feel it come on but it definately will help with the issues you are trying to avoid.
