Quick question on this V3 upgrade

im still a loser using the old v2. ..... I am soooooo ready to upgrade to V3, but here is my concern. I am running a MBC (due to a current problem with my turbo outlet elbow nipple)..... i dont want to unhook the MBC until i get a new elbow, or a Lower IC pipe that uses the old factory elbow. Right now I have permatex rightstuff holding back a boost leak at that nipple. (Helix IC piping elbow), and if I go to switch to XEDE boost, then I will have to deal with that leak again(because of unhooking the boost lines at the nipple where the permatex is covering boost leak). Is there anything major I would need to do to switch my v2 to v3 and be able to run the MBC still temporarily? If that is no problem...then show me where to start with a good link would be excellent. i want to take part in the V3 bandwagon and be able to enjoy launch control, etc. ...... Right now I feel left out.

I also have my little firmware update wire you guys sent me in the mail a while back.

also...the more I read on this stuff, the more I get confused. Can someone please school me on the saving the maps and getting the stuff back to normal after the update? Will I still have my custom tuned map (no race) after upgrade to v3? Or do you have to upload a basic map for my Stage 1+ from the website?

something else that confuses me, is that at first you guys mentioned taking that wire you sent me and connecting it to the car battery.

Now I see stuff about cutting a purple wire and tapping it to another wire? What is what??

If your custom map was tuned with it, no major changes should occur with running the MBC still; just follow Shiv's directions on how to convert it to a v3 readable map. Post #5 in this thread contains the upgrade tutorial which should explain everything you need to know on converting from v2 to v3. Good luck

yes it was tuned using the MBC, (cant wait to fix the bandaid i am using right now and switch to XEDE boost)...

my main confusion is the saving the 93 map i have, and converting it to the new one. ...Im a newb with my XEDE....i haveyet to really even fool with it, except hooking up the laptop and viewing the live data display and showing my tables.

I assume your confusion comes from reading the Upgrade Tutorial then reading the SMART install directions. Both methods work, they just vary slighty.

First things first, read one or the other (not both) in order to lessin the confusion for the v2 to v3 conversion and READ IT SLOWLY. Skimming the directions will only help add to your troubles. If you do not already have a boot wire, then I recommend you read the SMART install directions and just use the Upgrade Tutorial for your custom map conversion. Just follow the directions to a T and you will be fine.

Play around with xmap to become more familiar with it as well. The drop down menus are very self explanitory so just open it up and read all the functions in each one to get your bearings with it.

That would be a question to ask him then. It clearly states in Step 9 of the Upgrade Tutorial what to do to convert a v2 map into a v3.
