How to wire bank switch?

how do i wire a switch to flip to a secondary map? Dont see a how-to anywhere...

I'm assuming i either have to apply 12v to the switch wire, or ground it.

what switch/external LED setups is everyone running?

i believe the red/black pigtail that comes off the xede is what you need to install a switch. correct me if i'm wrong but just put a switch to connect those two wires. as for what the led on the xede does when you switch maps, you'll need to find that out. anyone have more definite info?

how did you wire the LED? i got the one someone else recommended from radioshack. its a Red/Green LED, with only 2 poles. i just hooked it up to test, if i hooked it up one way it would come on solid green, the other way solid red. so you're saying that if i switched the map, it would reverse?

i've also seen red/green LEDs with 3 poles (common annode or cathode). i dont need one of these do i?

Thats it? i saw those wires (comming of the ECU harness part right?) and never knew what they were for.

and this is just a momentary switch right? do the wires have to stay connected? or is it push once to switch, push again to switch back?

oh nm i thought u meant the led on the xede itself, i dont see why you'd need an external since you really should know what map you are using.

the wires have to stay together for the map to be "on." basically if the wires arent twisted together you are on map 1 (usually your pump gas map), if they are you are on map 2.

yes, you don't need a switch. If you want to go to your secondary map bank, you just twist them together....wanna go back, untwist.

and i didn't know the LED on the xede was red when the second map bank was open. Mine is green no matter which map is open.

This is correct. A switch isn't required. The Xede switches to the second bank of maps whenever those to leads are shorted. You can use a switch if you want do (I do), but you don't have to.

I don't think that's right. The LED isn't a map indicator. It's a status light. It's green whenever the Xede is operating normallly. It turns reddish/orange when a map is being loaded from memory.

Maybe leif and I have an older xede. Mine turns orange and stays orange when I put the two wires together for map 2.

Do you have a map correctly loaded in that bank? If the Xede is operating correctly, it should be green.
