Any 9.8 vs 10.5 dyno compares on 91 oct.?
The reason why I ask, is because I havent seen such. I dont want to install the 10.5 housing to loose tip-in boost response for minimal power gains.
The reason why I ask on this board, I consider vishnu as a leader in 91 oct tuning for evo's & figure his shop has performed numerous upgrades of this type.
btw, i dont have the funds for a tme or any other turbo upgrade.
Thanks

well as you read post with the 03-04 and now 05 the 05 has it and it deff rips on the 03. and also the 05 is stock with higher boost. and they have a gain of say 5-10hp and tourq more. so thats your answer. will help in long run unless are geting big new turbo kit
Alot of the gains seen on the 05 is from upped boost and leaner tune.
My stock 03 was slower than a stock 05 UNTIL I installed the XEDE.
I think the 10.5 hotside is good for 20HP. Which isn't a bad deal if you do the labor yourself.
If I get bored this winter I'll probably do it. I wouldnt say 20HP is a night and day difference but every little bit helps.

is this true the 05's have a leaner tune?
my old 04 idled at 1000rpm and my 05 is around 850/900 rpms this would make sence then leaning out the engine could this have any con's i know the evo come rich right out the box but can this leaning out the engine thing be bad? it's better to run rich right?
and can a catback cause a lean at all in any point of the rpm's?

Its true the '05 comes with a little more aggressive of a tune, leaning out the enigne is not "bad" if your safe about it, most people put a bunch of mods on there car without tunning it which usually causes the ecu to add massive amounts of fuel (rich condition). Running too rich can also cause you to wash out your cylinders and throw a rod, bearing, ect..

In both of our 10.5 test cars we went from stage 0, straight to 1++.
You can generally expect to see more midrange and top end power on pump gas. However, race gas is another story. On race gas, you will see rather large gains, generally upwards of 15 to 20 hp over an 03 hotside.

I have access to my 93 octane swap. Its a little different, though. I swapped the stock 9.8 for the 10.5 titanium and a header. It made 21whp (Dyno Dynamics) and good torque throughout the entire rev range.
Are there any pictures that show the arrangement of the turbo, 9.8/10.5, o2 housing, downpipe, etc. and any other parts I've left out?
I have heard of 05 owners swapping out for a new o2 housing, so I just assumed it was a different part than the 10.5 hotside? Or am I confused?
Does it bolt together something like:
turbo -> 10.5 hotside -> o2 housing -> downpipe ... ?
Pics would be great!
Thanks

there is no need for an 05 owner to change.. its teh same damn part!! thats why 05 evos that have stage 1+ are automatically stage 1++. Before the advent of the 10.5.. evos generally topped out arround 280 whp on shiv's dyno on 91. However.. with just the addition of the 10.5 i have seen almost all teh cars making arround 290- 293. My friend is running a stage 1+ and added a 10.5. He is still running a cat and he made 289whp. My stage 1+ only made 278whp.. then after i got my 10.5 my car made 293.
In my opinion it is a great deal.

How has your impression of "tip-in" during city driving has changed since the addition of the 10.5?
Were your 2 dyno runs conducted @ the same dyno facility? If so, could you email me your 2 dyno charts? anazario@hra.com
