XEDE keeps dumping maps...

Okay, just got my XEDE installed the other day and I also got a base map from Sackett that I uploaded to it. Everything works fine for 2 days, then I start getting the car acting irradic one evening. When I look at the XEDE itself, the LED is red (not amber, but red). It is doin crazy stuff with the boost. Well, I take it easy and get home to hook the laptop up to it. Well, lo and behold, there is no map loaded to it (yes, I did do the upload as well as the burn). Well, I uploaded the map again and everything worked fine, until tonite, when I started comin home it started doin the same thing. I hooked up the laptop and..viola, no map in XEDE. I've loaded it up again and it's fine for now (the map is awesome, BTW). But I don't want to have to have my laptop constantly hooked up. Is there something I did wrong in the install? In the firmware update? Some kinda save feature I'm not doin right?

Anyway, please help...

Thanks...

BTW, I can't seem to indentify any consistant action that creates this anamoly...

hey,

are you uploading (ctrl-u) and burning (ctrl-b) the map? it should go through two processes.

also, turn the key to 'on' for a couple seconds before cranking and starting the car, giving the map time to load.

Is there anything with a magnetic field in your glove box?

yes, I do the uplaod and burn process. No there is nothing near the XEDE out of the ordinary. I do wait for a few seconds, but even when I just put the car in the "ON" position, the amber lite blinks, which means that there is no map loaded in the XEDE

isnt the flashing orange light good?
xede is waiting to detect a timing input signal. this happens before the car is started?

so does this mean there is no map?

from what I've been told, yes, that is what that means. When the map is loaded correctly, it usually starts in amber for a quick second then goes to solid green.

Anybody?

green will not come on until you start the car.

oh, I'm usin a Map that Sackett passed onto me. He used an 03-04 base map for Cali 91 pump gas, but has tweaked it a little. It's workin fine for me right now until I really learn how to use XMap better ..I'm still new to this tunin stuff.

BTW, I called Vishnu and talked to Dustin. He said I may be one of those rare cases of a bad EEPROM, but before I send it to him I tried updating the firmware again. So far it seems ot be holdin up, but I got my fingers crossed...
