Update on Creaders?????

If you unplug your negative battery terminal and leave it disconnected you won't get a p0300 either...

I noticed this as well and am wondering the same.
Interesting. It turns off when the key is off on my car. Your car is an 03 as well right?

I've been getting P0300's since I got the XEDE before I even had SMART. I never ever got a P0300 in 20k miles while I had an Xflash. Then when I added SMART and a bad C-reader my car would throw a P0300 within 2 minutes of driving with the agressive timing map. Without the agressive timing table, it throws it every 3rd time I drive the car. The thing is just completely stupid and I'm tired of dealing with it. I havn't called Vishnu or anyone else with the problems because it's a hopeless battle as far as I'm concerned. The C-reader is a band-aid, and I'm not a fan of it.
Luckily my Boost Gauge blocks my view of the SES light, I'm just waiting for the bulb to burn out.
I also need to do some rewiring of the knock box and wideband power source. While pulling the power off the cigarette lighter seemed like a good idea, that power gets turned off when the car is turned off, and it's on when the key is in accessory but the car isn't running. So basically when I'm sitting parked in my car wiht it off but listening to the radio, the wideband is powered and the knock box is powered. And when I turn off my car but the TT keeps it running, the knockbox and wideband are shut off, but the car is still running for however many seconds. I don't know what this could do to the wideband, knockbox, or Xede, but I would think they should all be powered in the same fashion as the ignition.
Oh yeah, and my race gas map, I won't even go there...
If it seems suprising to some people that I'm actually opening my mouth about this stuff now, deal with it.
Seth... I may be at your shop within the next 2 months to have you take a look at my car. I'll give you a call at some point.

On my previous pre-SMART custom tunes my car never threw a code (but I did have the notorious cold/hot v3 start issues after converting on the second tune). This was still the case after installing my SMART system accept my cold/hot start issues seem to have been reduced to a few seconds of rough idle, then it smooths out.
Recently, I loaded up the more aggressive fuel & timing maps and instanly began misfiring randomly on the first ride (resulting in a cel of course). Had the CReader in the glove box so I pulled over and shut down, plugged it in, and wala no more misfires. After I got home I had some wiring I wanted to get done and this was when I noticed the CReader still on even though my car was off. Now I'm not sure if it turns off after a few minutes, something I havent had a chance on checking, but everytime I open the door and look down there it's on.
I'm more then happy with how the car performs so there's no complaints on that end. Just curious as to why this thing seems to stay on when the car is off!
Check the schematic for the OBD-II connector. It's powered by fuse 15 under the dash, which in turn is connected to the battery thru a fuse link. The power connection isn't switched.
On my '03 a CReader doesn't turn off it just goes blank when the ECU shuts down when the key is off.
While I didn't measure the current going into the Creader, on a day-to-day basis the power consumption doesn't seem like it would draw down the battery sufficiently to limit battery life. On the other hand I wouldn't store the car with the Creader connected.

My Creader has been on since my S.M.A.R.T. installation back in July. I was unaware that it was supposed to go off with the ignition. The 1-2-3-4-5 Launch sequence is always showing. The performance of the car is great, so I assume that everything is working correctly. Should I be concerned that it is always on?
