Meth/Alky SMART choices

Gurus,
I have been doing some research (reading) on the Meth/Alky/H2O injection...

Since I have the SMART system, and it and race gas (leaded) don’t play well together I thought that I might need to try and figure out if adding a methanol injection kit might be my next step before the stage 2. Unless you have a extra stage two laying around that you want to get rid of for similar $ .

Here are some of the issues/questions that I have found:

$499 Buschur kit: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=121711 (install link)

Are we wasting money on controllers that are unneeded because the SMART can control the spray? Plus this is in the engine bay (oh, hell no!)

AMS Stealth kit (https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...hlight=stealth). Nice. Uses a trunk tank and replaces the windshield washer tank.

Aquamist makes high-end kits as well: http://www.aquamist.co.uk/cp/cp.html
I know there have been voltage issues between the signaling in the Aquamist 2c and the Xede. Has this been worked out? Sounds like the kit to have if $ is no option.

Quote (not in response to above)
“Yep.... you use the 0-5v output from the MAPout wire (solid purple Pin 3 grey connector) to generate the MAP signal (without needing to use the MAP sensor, of course). We will offer a kit specifically for this application giving you whatever you need. Hang tight for mapping info..

shiv”

What kit is that^?

I have seen prices from just a couple hundred bucks to over a thousand. I know I do not want to be cheap and order a kit for three hundred buck and blow my car up. I know the 2c has Teflon seas that rock as far as holding up the alki. The mix should be like 85/15 not 100%, if you want to prevent corrosion. Blah blah blah…

Here comes a real question…

What kit is Vishnu installing? You can PM me if you do not want to advertise or are not 100% tested. I would like to get a kit that my Xede can control the flow thru a map and aux output. I have a 93 custom map and a 96 oct map, which should be good as a base meth map with a small nozzle.

I would like to see the following-

• Tank in the trunk. Reuse the windshield spray tank and put a new one on the driver side like the AMS Stealth kit. Or add a new Tank. I am not going for the clean trunk look if that costs twice as much.

• Xede Controlled. Progressive spray thru Xede output.

• Meth/Alky safe tank and lines. (Is the windshield tank even alki safe?)

• Keep my intercooler spray. Unless it absolutely has to go.

I am guessing that most of this would point to the AMS Stealth kit. Are having the pump in the engine bay and the tank in the trunk a good set up? Shouldn’t the pump be closer to the tank? More efficient pushing than pulling. I know gravity would be helping but acceleration would be working against the flow too. In addition, this might not be the best set-up for an 03-04 with the intercooler spray where the pump goes.

Chris

Great thread. I want a kit where I don't have to lose the IC sprayer either. I'd like to use the rear washer sprayer, but mount the pump in the rear with the sprayer instead of pulling my IC sprayer. I think that would be a nice package, but don't know how to make one, etc.

I'm no guru but I've been researching the aquamist 2d. Because of the problems with xede controling the high speed valve(voltage prob) I would rater see the valve run on the injector cycle and let the smart smooth out the rest. Prob cant fine toon this as much but looks to be pretty safe. Also the 2d has a blocked jet/out of alky sensor that can be used to cut boost to save the engine. I thought you could run it to controll a relay to switch maps on the xede when theres a prob.

I agree but I would like to see a pump/controller that can interface the Xede or an adapter that would allow the Xede to interface the 2c/2d controller. That is why I am asking. I know there are work arounds, but I would like to see if there is a good clean set-up out there or in the works.

Aquamist 2D is the best system available. Unfortunatley, it's crazy money and can only be driven off the injector signal. I have the 1s system and it uses a simple pressure switch to activate the pump. I only use water and its mostly used for an intercooling effect on hot days. So far, I have yet to see anyone make a water injection system work w/ the XEDE. It definitley isn't plug and play.

What we do when using a meth kit is the following. We start with an off the shelf AMS kit. Instead of taping the 0-5v wire into maf, like it suggests, we attach it to AN2O. Then we configure a 0-5v output as a function of MAF and RPM.

You areusing the one that replaces the intercooler sprayer?

https://secure.buschurracing.com/cat...16835736742d4b

Or are you using the stealth kit
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...light=stealthy

Or are they the same just a choice of under hood or trunk system.

I am guessing

03-04 Under hood

05+ trunk mount.

Is this right?

The only thing we care about is the AMS controler. Where the meth is picked up from doesnt matter.

Dustin, Which AMS kit do you use, with MAP sensor or without?
