Wideband Calibration Questions

Okay I finally installed my Smart upgrade today. But I having trouple calibrating it. First question, do you ground both of the black wires, one from the LED light and the second from the button?? Second question, when getting the car to 6000rpm in third gear after letting the gas go you press the button right, not hold? Third question do you just coast down 1000rpm and go into nuetral or do you have to hit the button?

When following the Vishnu directions to the tee and then opening the Live Data Display, I am not seeing the 15% at idle like its says, I am seeing in the 40% range. So it seems to me its calibrating. Any suggestions would be great.

Also on the knock box, there is a blue and white that connect togather, you are supposed to connect them?

To paraphrase Dustin from another thread -- the blue and white wires are for future functionality. Just tape them up for use later on.

The calibration switch is wired so that one side goes to ground and the other goes to the black calibration wire from the LC-1.

It is recommended in the Vishnu instructions to leave the ground to the switch disconnected after calibration to avoid accidental calibration.

The easiest way to do the calibration is to leave the car sitting over night and then calibrate it before starting. Otherwise you can follow the instructions and bring the car to about 6K RPM in third or fourth gear and then begin to coast. At this point the engine is basically a fresh air pump and blows out all of the exhaust.
For me calibration took about 2 - 3 seconds.

The led will be solid red once warmed up. It will turn off durning the calibration and then come back on when complete.

Good luck,

Well I made one mistake that I had to correct, I had the wideband sensor power off the Xede not the cigarette lighter, I changed that and disconnected the blue & white wire from the knock box.

But even after those changes I still can't get the Live Data to the right percentages at idle, i am still getting in the 40%.

It's not unused anymore. It's an O2 sim for eliminating the p0420 code. There's directions posted somewhere on how to hook it up.

Just calibrate it on a car that has been sitting for at least 12 hours. There are directions in the LC1 manual.

EDIT: I should reiterate that I'm not kidding about letting the car sit for 12+ hours. You want the engine to be off as long as possible before calibrating. Otherwise the calibration will be off. Another option is just pull the O2 sensor out into the open air and calibrate. That will always work.

Cool, thanks for that. The thread I found when I looked for that answer I guess is out of date. I have just spaced out my O2 sensor with some anti-fowlers. It never occured to me to look for an electronic fix.

Well I finally got the Smart running today at the track (Englishtown). I made wiring mistake. After calibrating it I was finally getting 15% at idle showing by the LIVE DATA DISPLAY in AN0.

My next question would be, can use the Xede high speed data logger and how?? (Because I was not able to make it work)

Also can use the Innovative software and Data Logger to A/F? (I actually tried but was not able to connect to the sensor, it asked to use a different to port to connect either COM1 or COM3)

Yeah, i can't find it either. Here's the install directions for the perrin. I imagine that
the Chiptorque/vishnu one works exactly the same.

How about an update on that ashtray switch project.

I used Donour's pyxede software to generate some high speed log files.
worked great
