No kidding. About a week an a half ago, I was driving a IX MR at high altitiude. The combination of the 6-speed and mivec is amazing. Above 7000', spooling can really be an issue but with the IX I felt like I was driving at sea level.

I've noticed that about the IX, that some dyno similiar to the VIII and some dyno higher, much higher. We all know that no two EVOs dyno the same stock and I believe a pattern may start to come out, where lower power IXs are only making WHP similiar to VIIIs while the average and more powerful IX will make more power the VIII. The IX has already been proven to make much more power than the VIII with similiar bolt ons, and maybe some IXs are less restrictive from the factory than others. I cannot wait to see what results the Vishnu camp gets with the IX.

Also who says the IX is running similiar times to the VIII. The few that have ran at the track have been trapping around 104MPH and higher stock. I know some VIIIs hit those trap speeds stock, but the VIIIs that hit those speeds were not the norm, only time will tell as more and more EVO IX owners begin to tune and/or track their cars.

Time to trade in the 8.
Oh my Tomig is back from the dead. I guess so am I. Not really I am still dead. Just a ghost for now.

This confirms what Ralliart in Great Britain has said. Over there the Evo FQ-320 is basically a stock Evo 9, which they discovered produces more horsepower than Mitsu claims.

Thanks for the info. I hope my evo would have the same results. I do now stock for stock my 9 feels much better than my 8 did. Even with cams and everything that comes before my 9 feels stronger almost every where to me.

Is that on 91 Octane? Also, the AFR is off the bottom of the scale, it must be in the high 9's most of the time, can that be right?

No prob. That was just the baseline on the car. It's coming back on Thursday for a full build-up (Subzero to perhaps Stg 1+). I hope to isolate what is the cause for the extra power by temporrarily diabling MIVEC through the ECU. It looks like it is doing a lot of good since boost and AFR are no more aggressive than they were on the earlier cars (real rich and a lot of boost taper). Stay tuned...

What causes the two large dips in the boost graph between 3400-4200 RPMs? Is that normal?

They aren't very big (less than a 1psi). The boost axis is on the left. AFR on the right. And yep, they are pretty normal for all EVOs. You tend not to see them with typical analog gauges.

Indeed, maybe only 1/2 a PSI, but it does stand out on the graph. 1/2 PSI is more than 5% of totaly boost at that level?

What causes the dips? Does it get smoothed out by Xede or reflash/other boost control? Or just part of the evo design/function?

thanks
