why would they disable the mivec?

How the hell is that thing making 238 peak hp at 6400 rpms when, according to the boost chart its only making around 15psi at 6400 rpms and like 10.1 AFR.

Didn't you also just move locations, which means you moved the dyno as well. Do you have to recalibrate the dyno when it's moved?

Interesting

Shiv,

Would you agree with these numbers, just to give us a rough comparison between the various US-spec Evo's?:

Average stock 03-04 Evo 8: 195 hp
Average stock 05 Evo 8: 210 hp
Average stock 06 Evo 9: 23x hp

And of course, these would be #'s from Shiv's Dyno Dynamics setup and thus not easily comparable to other dynos.

Just curious.

just to add to the off topic...
it's not an 8 wing. if you gamma up the image you can see that the spoiler plane
is much darker than the side panels which are now painted on the 9's.
it's just the light hitting the side panel at a different angle

To see where the extra power comes...new turbo, mivec etc. Helps to narrow down the cause of difference between an Evo 8.

We dyno'd a stock one here and it made somwhere around low 260-265whp stock on our AWD dyno.

Yep.. we dyno'd it again today at 233-234whp on our DD dyno. After 5 hours of ECU remapping, we picked up.. ahem... a lot of power.

Tomorrow I'm going to spend some more time cleaning up the tune and play around with the MIVEC mapping. There's got to be even more grunt in there. Should be fun...

Cheers,
shiv
