Question Creader?

Hey I have the SMART system and the C-reader and don't know if it is working correctly. I threw a code most likely for overboost since the outside temp dropped so much. I know the Creader isn;t supposed to prevent that type of code from being thrown, but I was also under the impression that the Creader was actually supposed to read and be able to clear the code. I tried just about everything and it won't do it. I plug it in and it counts to 5 and then just says E. The code doesn;t clear..and I can't get it to reset without yanking a battery cable. Any ideas?

If it says "E", its from the batch of bad CReaders and needs to get replaced. I'll have to ask the guys as to when some more functional CReaders are expected to come in from the supplier. We've been replacing them as supply permits. Almost catching up...

Anyone that has a defective C-reader must send it in, so we can send them back to the manufacture for replacements.

I'm located in Danbury, ct. There are autozone's and others around. They would sell the code reader that you just leave in? I figured they would just have the handheld ones.

"CReader" is actually the branding name of the device. Autozone does carry other scantools, but I don't think they actually carry 'creaders'. However, there are a couple of hardware stores around my house that have them -- identical to the ones vishnu sells.

Of course if you call vishnu, they'll mail you a new one, but if you're in a big hurry you might want to try calling around town to see if anybody carries them. The only store that I think you might have in CT is Harbour Freight Tools. If you have one near you, they'll probably have creaders.
