Want Launch Control? Do It Yourself
Want Launch Control? Do It Yourself
First, go to: http://www.vishnutuning.com/secret/ and download the SMART templates w/ launch control. If you are not using XMap 3.2 then you will need to upgrade first, but that's another thread.
1. Once you have the SMART templates downloaded open up your current map that's in the XEDE and save it to your laptop.
2. With the map open highlight the all the cells (top left corner to bottom right corner) in the "Fuel" map and right click somewhere on the map. Then click "copy map data"
3. Exit the map and open up the new SMART template w/ launch control. Go to the "Fuel" map and right click the top left corner cell. Then click "paste map data". The data from your old map will appear.
NOTE: make sure the data is all in the correct cells.
4. Save the map and rename it.
5. Re-open the original map and repeat the same procedure for the timing, Boost, SMART timing (if different), and SMART fuel (if different). Make sure to save your progress everytime you close out your launch control map.
It's a bit of work going back and forth from map to map, but not too difficult.
NOTE: Make sure to double check all the maps and check the 3D graphs for any out of place values.
Good luck and keep those TC's in the cars

Should the smart fuel and smart timing tables be zeroed out, or should they have values in it, or does it even matter if you're not using the smart hardware? The table I downloaded has values in it and I was just wondered if I should be concerned.
Just wanted to say thanks to jj 008 for the instructions on how to do this. I don't know why I didn't have enough common sense to do this in the first place, but I got it set up in 10 minutes and was ready to go. Works great, but I think it's time to lose the stock clutch. Anyway, thanks again.
Okay .... now that map making 101 is complete.....I want to go to map editing 301.
How can I get rid of the SMART maps? I dont like having to store and load extra maps that contain all zero values. I doubt you can just edit and delete those maps but if its that easy...great.

I will have to mess around w/ my maps later, but I am pretty sure you can delete just the SMART maps.

The output of one map can be the input to another. If that chain is broken, and the signals (CAS, MAF) aren't directed to properly pass through the Xede, you may have just "broken" your map.
I believe you can create a new map with new tables, and import the necessary values from your existing SMART-enabled map file.

I agree that there is a way....I just dont have to time to research the chain of logic....thought maybe one of you fellas would be on winterm break with nothing else to do but figure this crap out.
Basically I want to have both a LC/NTLS non-smart 93 octane map and a custom mileage map with low BCS utilization. I have been able to increase my mileage by 5mpg by running a low boost highway map for road trips.
