I have also experienced fuel starvation -- specifically at PPIR. I was running at about 1/3 of a tank. At PPIR there are a bunch of left turns strung together. A left onto the banking, a long left using the banking onto the infield and then back onto the banking and then another left to enter the infield (watch my Caterham video in my sig if you are curious).

After this series of turns I would get spiked EGTs as well as what felt like fuel cut during the next short straight.

 

I will get a lean misfire coming over the top of 9/10 at T-hill if I am really low on fuel. I have only had it happen a few times. Just make sure you have at least 1/2 of a tank before you head out for a 20 min run.

 

With my honda (01 prelude) i can fill up at home, drive to infineon, run the whole day, and drive back home all on one tank...

The evo on the other hand goes through fuel at an epic rate. I usually fill up on mostly 91 and like 2 gallons of race gas, then periodically add more 91 in throughout the day.

 

I've run out of fuel on banked ovals with about an 1/8 tank on flat ground. Its a scarey feeling.

So most of you make no changes to your fuel when road racing or attending lapping days??? I wish Shiv would comment on the whether these maps are safe for back to back 3rd and 4th gear WOT runs.

 

I know some of the sti guys are combating fuel starvation by putting some kind of foam in their gas tanks...reduces volume but keeps all the gas near the pickup. Any of you guys trying this?

 

Road Race Engineering also can mod the fuel tank to combat this.

 

My Honda drinks as much gas as my Evo. Let's see who can drink more in 2 min. and 2 seconds next time you're out there.
