Vishnu Cam Gear Install
Pretty much. Button head bolts are not good structural bolts. It is actually pretty easy to pop the heads off them by over tightening them but, usually they strip the head of the bolt out because there is not enough depth for the allen to get a good bite and distribute the load.
The issue here is that the red loctite locks them up so good and it is kind of hard to keep the allen wrench/socket square and pressed into the head of the bolt because of the location so, it is very easy to round out. It might not be so bad if you could put some heat to it to release the loc tite but, then you run the risk of burning the belt or annealing the aluminum gear which would be bad.

Do you remember the rod diameter and thread pitch?
Did we get a response on the rod diameter and the thread pitch?

I think it was 8mmx1.25. it's listed in the evom forums somewhere, you will just have to search.
biggest advice I read was to make sure that you DO NOT buy your threaded rod from a place like home depot. go to a specialty nut/bolt store and get a good quality. metric isn't graded like american nuts/bolts. I think I ended up with something like a "5", that equalled out to grade 8 american. I took the approach that it's a one-time use and threw the piece away that I used to do the job. it only comes in 1 meter lengths, so i still have 2/3 left for use again if ever needed.
btw, someone on here posted to buy new cam gear bolts. I would recommend this as well. I partially rounded one of mine when taking it off and ordered 2 new ones. they were less than $5 for the pair. if you order them far enough ahead from your delaer, no freight.. cheap insurance. you won't find the exact replacements anywhere else.
