Vishnu Standard Exhaust For EVO8 On EVO IX

Just wanted to let everyone know, that it fits. Not only does it fit, it fits PERFECTLY. Probably a better fit than the factory exhaust, with the exception of a useless bracket that needs removed.

There was a bracket attached to the driveshaft bracket under the car that wasn't there on the 8. But from all I could tell it was most likely there as heat sheilding. Once I removed that it went in super easily. If you are putting one on your IX, you'll immediately know which bracket this is. Oh, and there is PLENTY of 02 sensor wiring to reach.

Yayy for not having to buy and exhaust system for my car!

Which version was it? Taipan? Helix? Perrin?

I saw a used one for sale that looked tempting, but the Downpipe will probably hit my transfer case.

Well he just installed a turboback exhaust, he has a IX, and it didn't hit hit transfer case... what makes you think it would hit yours?

The 6 speed factor. If I'm wrong I'll be glad. But I remember them needing to revamp their design because of the MR.

The TC is exactly the same in a 6 speed car as a 5 speed car on the 05 and 06 Evo's. They all have ACD, and the TC placement is exactly the same.

Ok I did a little backtracking and found this:

"3" DP fitment on the 6 speeds can be a bit touchy. Our standard exhaust option is getting reworked now for proper fitment without having to resort to smaller pipe diameter. Should have been ready a couple of weeks ago but you know how things go...

-shiv, on dustin's computer"

On this thread:

Given that they've gone through so many different vendors for the standard exhaust, I'm not sure which one he was referring to.. I know the newer perrin fits.

Ok....

RallyRedEVO put a full Taipan turbo back exhaust on his 06 Evo IX MR.

He said it fit with ZERO clearance issues.

RallyRed doesn't have an MR....it's a standard 5-speed IX (gsr?).

I learned something new today....

P.S. - The type of tranny still makes no difference on the Downpipe to TC clearance issues. The Transfer case is in the EXACT SAME SPOT in both the 5 speed and 6 speed cars.

I for one can GUARANTEE that the DP is different for the 06 MR. The standard ones that fit the 5 speed will not work as the path to the converter/test pipe is very different. I am currently using a "sort of" prototype by Ichiba and it's STILL causing some rubbing/vibration on the transfer case as well as part of the underbody.

Would be nice to see DOCUMENTED proof of MR fitment across the board rather than massaged applications...

Which 5 Speed, an 05-06 5 speed with an ACD TC or a 03-04 Viscous TC equipped 5 speed??

We all really need to be more clear with our posts...

the transfer cases in the 05-06 cars, MR or not, all have ACD, and are all the same. The fact that the TC is in the same spot on all these cars should make the DP clearance the same on all of them. The DP goes NOWHERE NEAR the tranny, the TC is the clearance issue, because the ACD TC is bigger than a Viscous TC.
