Does SMART Adjust Itself for Different Octane Gas?

My EVO was custom tuned (stage 0+) on 93 octane this spring at the Houston Dyno Day. I have the SMART system running with the knock buffer and everything. I am moving to Arkansas, and I fear that they will only have 91 octane. Will SMART adjust to the 2 octane points lower fuel, or should I switch to an off the shelf smart map for 91 octane?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

Adam

no problem... did you want a more detailed explanation as to why?

I think SMART is intended to react to short-term variations in knock resistance - someone can correct me if I'm wrong but I believe if you are continuously running on lower octane than you were tuned for, your tune is going to "flap" as your SMART tables continually wander in and out of the "happy" zones they were tuned around.

Well, you never know about these guys on the internet - I was just happy to get a quick answer and didn't want to push my luck!

ez76's explanation makes sense, do you agree?

Thanks again!

That is cool, what about the Fort Smith area on the western border?
