SO. I search and I search, but the damn search function won't let me search just THIS forum. So I'm breaking the rules. But I'm pretty damn frustrated. I just bought this EVO, I'm sitting in my garage, which is extremely hot, trying to connect to this damn XEDE.
I bought a USB adaptor thing, but when I open Xmap(I think I'm still on V2 but I'm not sure cause I can't connect to look), it can't find it. Can't find it in XUpdate either. I fiddle with the com port settings in XMap, and COM3 is the only one that's not in use by something else. I look in the device manager and it says the USB device is plugged into "Location 0". WTF is location 0? I can't find anyway to change that to a COM1 or anything like that. I suck at computers. I just wanna go drive and enjoy the launch control. I didn't get any sort of instructions for the XEDE with the car. So please. Help me.

usually when i hook into my xede, i just go to the device manager to see what COM port my cable is using and then change it the software and it works.. what kind of USB adaptor are you using?
Ok I got it to connect in XMAP V.2 but XUpdate still won't work...keeps saying com1 is busy with something else.
The original thing was a problem with the driver. I reloaded it and now it's working. I'm taking a break to charge my laptop. And hopefully once I cool down I'll be able to think clearly enough to get this working. I don't remember Texas being this hot.

Trust me I know how to search 
I hung out on nasioc for two years...I would never not search first unless absolutely necessary. But for some reason every time I clicked search only the XEDE forum, it would search every forum... So it was really hard to get anything remotely related.
