If you want optimal tune, custom dyno tuning is necessary. This applies to any car, any set up, any time. The baseline maps are just that, baselines. They are designed to accommodate the lowest common denonimator which they do most of the time. Every now and then, we'll come across a car that wants to make more (especially those running test pipes like yourself) or sometimes less boost than normal. This is when user-adjustability pays off since things can easily be compensated for.

When I say that 21psi peak is good, I mean it's good and safe. Safe enough to be far away from the fuel cut and high enough to provide a nice boost in power.

Regards,
Shiv

PS. Another reason you are overboosting is that you are running a set-up which we don't have a map for. We don't have a map for a cat-less Stage 0 plus DP on the website. But I just made one and emailed it off to Andy at Extreme. It should take care of the overboost issue. If not, Andy has my number and will call me.

Yes you are safe if you cut it down to 21 psi peak- BTW I feel if demant the accurate tune from your tuner youd at least use his recomended products and not a aftermarket BOW that could hold more boost than stock

A bov is DUMB, put the stock one back on. also the cat being off should be okay, I just don't like the smell for 5HP and a CEL.

Shivs base maps are very good and get better daily but if you deviate from the mod path well then you need to self tune or have shiv tune those mods. Shiv can really smooth out and custumize a map for your car but like stated earlier prolly < 10 HP over the basemap. Your car is running right I guarentee you that if you just replace your BOV the overboost prob wouldnt be there

The stock BOV leaks. That means that the turbo spins faster than it should to produce the boost you see in the intake manifold. This means that the air in the intake manifold is hotter than it needs to be.

If you install an aftermarket BOV that allows the discharged air to go back into the pre-turbo intake-tract, there is nothing dumb about it.

If you install one that does not discharge back into the pre-turbo intake-tract, then you will likely have issues at part throttle with unmeteed air getting in or metered air getting out.

How do you know it leaks? See there is always a lot of talk but no facts to back this up. Tell me why and how you know it leaks?

With our Stage 2 car mapped to run at 25psi, replacing the stock BOV with an recirculating aftermarket unit picked up another 2psi of boost and 20whp. At 21psi of boost, however, the difference between the stock aftermarket BOV was insignificant. We tested 3 stock BOVs and found them all to leak just above 21-22psi of boost. So as long as you run under 21-22psi of boost, there is no measurable gain with running an aftermarket BOV. The only thing I picked up with my Stage 1+ car is partial throttle compressor surge and other misc. drivability issues. There is a way to modify your factory BOV to keep from bleeding at higher pressures. We're testing it right now.

Cheers,
shiv
