XEDE installed & doesn't work

Hey,
Have just installed my new Xede and have had nothing but problems from the get go. Once installed we needed to tune as I had a aftermarket intake. Upon tuning we found the maps would not upload. They say they uploaded and if you burned the map it said it was ok. But then if you download the map from Xede the changes did not save. About every 5th time or so it works. I am also getting errors in the xmap software. Access violation errors, and read header file errors. I am also seeing the RPM's go from say 850rpms down to 3rpms for a second and then back up to 850rpms. It will do this every few seconds. If you rev up to 2000rpms it will drop to 7rpms and then right back to 2000rpms. You can also see the cells in the maps changing rpms as well. If you do a data log, you see lots of 0's (zero's). This is not good! The boost relay in the circuit board on the plug n play harness sometimes will tick when you first turn on the ignition but sometimes it doesn't tick and makes a sound like its sick. Sounds more and more like a bad harness/circuit board. Finally I thought duh!, check the light on the Xede. And its flashing orange all the time.

You can see the errors and sample of the data log in the attachment in the post. It's a zip file with a word doc.

I think its pretty clear the Plug n Play harness is bad. We have checked the connections and everything is correct and looks good. I doubt its the Xede but I guess possible.

So Shiv please help me get this resolved. I am hoping this post catches your attention. Would like to get this working! If you could send me a new plug n play harness I can send you the bad one right away. Or just send me a new harness and Xede and I can send you my Xede and harness so you can determine which is bad. Let me now what you think. Please contact me Shiv! PM me as my mail server is down right now.

Thanks guys.
John

Yes, sounds like a bad harness. Perhaps a bad solder trace or short somewhere. Pretty strange but worth replacing asap. Unfortunatly, asap is monday due to the holidays. I apologize for the problem and will get it resolved.

HAALN, I been in Shiv's shop. The phones literally ring off the hook all day. It was actually kind of amazing. They answered continually but can't get to everyone. Also, after this long weekend, it doesn't surprise me that their machine is full.

Just keep calling back. You'll get them if they don't get a hold of you first.

Also, when I was there, one week ago, they didn't show up early, I think they are all night owls and are more likely to stay late, than show up early. Trust me, they will take care of you, and you will love the results.

What was the problem? Curious as to if it was the harness or the Xede unit itself.

Thanks for sending this out today!

Update... just wanted to let people know I received a new Xede and harness. It took a few days to turn around but Vishnu understood my urgency and was pretty darn quick to get me a new one. Thanks Shiv!

I still had problems with the new one and was starting to think is this really a problem with the Xede? It had to be a problem with the serial cable or my laptop (serial port maybe). Shiv called and confirmed that both Xede's worked fine before he shipped them and agreed it had to be a problem on my end. I tired a new serial cable and everything works great! All this time I had a bad serial cable.

So if anyone has problems where uploading is really slow, uploads don't always work, your log shows 0's much the time, like your loosing connection for a split second, most likely its a cable problem. Anyway, a learning experience for me.

Later...
