Post Vishnu Cam Gear Install....Any advice?

All of you guys that have installed them,

How difficult is the installation? How long did it take you?

I have purchased the special tool, which looks like it is inserted underneath the car from the online manual. Is this right?

I guess that I would like to get some advice before I start. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

HiVolt

for the cam gears no problem, like 30 to 45 minutes, cams another story, probably 3 hrs. the tool makes the cam install alot easier.

Hey SA EVO,

If you can get enough people in SA to do cams, I'll be more than happy to do them for you for a very reasonable amount.

I'm doing mine this weekend. From there, I'll PM you if you and others are interested.

follow the directions on evomoto - should take 3 hrs. tool goes in from the engine compartment, little rubber plug with a tab on it to pull it out, just below the cam gear cover on the lower plastic cover facing the radiator.

Did the HKS cams install today.

HiVolt. I personally had to take out the cams to take off the bolt that holds the cam gears to the cams. Taking these bolts out was the hardest part of the install for me. I hope you are stronger than me or have some better tools or something. I had a breaker bar and a 1 1/16 wrench to hold the cams. The stupid bolt did not even budge and I was practially ON the dang thing at one point. If you are going to change the cams, change them with the gears!!!

The difference between changing the cams and the cam gears is pretty much taking off the caps for the cams - I more step, thats it!
I also made a customzed tool for the tensioner (a threaded bold 8mm x 1.25).

I bought a 3 foot 8 x 1.25 threaded bolt from a local store. Cut about 9 inches (what I needed) and torqued two screws on it to turn it. I'll post a pic tomorrow.

The manual syas hand tighten it. The evomoto says tighten it with a ratchet. I used a ratchet, but you can also do it by hand.

Three foot? jeeze did you stand on a stepladder to twist it? What was the store? Can you ship one to me? And did it work well?

I cut a 9 inch portion. It showed a little flexing, but it was enough. I am not sure though how it would work if you are just changing the gears.

I'll confirm tomorrow. I'll fiddle with it and see how good the tensioner moves.
