We've done lots of comparison testing at the shop. It's not good form to disclose results from competing ECUs when the other tuners weren't present during testing to verify that their respective reflashed ECUs were working as they should or tested under equal and fair conditions. And even if they were, I would inevitably be accused of tweaking the dyno or cheating in some way So why bother?

Anyway, I'm very happy happy with the results.

Shiv, you have Stage 1 93 octane maps already right? ANd also, how is the X-Flash going to interface with X-Flash tuner. And while Im at it, how does the X-flash tuner work?

Thanks.

Also, to all XEDE/XFlash/Vishnu patrons, is it absolutely necessary to have cam gears for the 264/272 set-up? I am getting cam gears but im going to have to install the cams first.

Otherwise I guess I can wait 1 more week...

do the gears at the same time, saves a lot of hastle! If you have time get 2 more bolts to hold the gears on so you done even need to disassemble the factory cam/gear combo.

What do you mean get 2 more bolts? Like 2 more 8mm x 1.25 x 8 inch bolts (cam tensioner tool)?
Do I absolutely need the cam gears?

Thanks man.

go for the cam gears - absolutely. The settings Shiv has come up with really show good gains. Call Brett tomorrow and tell him to ship you some gears PRONTO (he might do it if you call him a "Sexy MF'r" )

As for the bolts, get 2 of the bolts that hold the gears to the end of the cams - then just swap the whole assembly in.

I'm confused...I'm looking into an upgrade and I thought the Xede would be the end of ECU calibrations, just needing to be remapped with subsequent upgrades. Do I need the xflash and exede?

I'll try my best to explain, but Shiv would obviously be the real expert here.

The Xflash is a static, 1-time reflash of your ECU's fuel injection, ignition, & boost map.

The Xede is a seperate device that piggybacks on top of the factory ECU and the factory map. It intercepts the signals headed from the ECU out to the various actuators in the car (fuel injectors, ignition coils, etc.) and adjusts those values according to the map loaded into the Xede.

The advantage w/ the Xede is that you can have 2 maps loaded in the unit and switch between the two in a couple seconds. You can also plug a laptop into the Xede and alter any parameter of any given map and upload new maps. Plus the Xede can be easily removed for any reason.

The advantage of the Xflash is that there are no additional parts added to the car and nothing is visible. It is just the rewriting of software (the factory ecu's map) and is completely clean.

So basically these are 2 seperate products, each doing basically the same things, but in different ways. However, Shiv is saying there is a slight advantage in combining both, but it is definitely not necessary and as he admits, the benefits are relatively small.

Doesn't he have to remove the pill or replace the hose to control the boost like that for the xflash? Shiv never explicitly stated so but I'm assuming this is part of the xflash procedure...dun see how else he's able to boost to 23psi then drop it to 20-19psi.

Another happy X-flash customer here. I was very impressed with power consistency of the x-flash tune. The car now feels predictable, less erratic and has a more linear powerband.

Torque is phat, and the EVO pulls hard.

My car is stock and made a best pull of 219.5hp with the X-flash, running crappy Shell gas (includes MTBE).

I filled up with 76 yesterday and the car feels even smoother.

For the money you can't beat the flash... 22whp on Shiv's dyno is a bargain.

Thumbs up and thanks again Shiv!
