thinking of vishnu xflash

ok i am pretty new to the turbo car community. i dont know where the ecu is located at, and i dont know what map to choose because i plan on getting an intake soon, and i have a catback with a test pipe is that a full exhaust or do i still classify it as a catback, i would like to get a down pipe soon but just would not have it before sending in my ecu to get xflashed?

i keep hearing good things about vishnu so that is why i am posting on here.

would a map programmed for a full exhaust work with my set up until i get a down pipe or is that dangerous? and/or hurt things in the engine?

stupid questions i know...

Okay, for what it's worth...

I would recommend that you hold off on the reflash until you've got your downpipe. Then get your reflash.

Don't replace the intake. At last Saturday's dyno day, the majority of the Stage 1+ cars (over 300 WHP) were running the stock intake -- it is really a pretty good intake. Replacing the stock intake with (for instance) a cone filter could change the air/fuel mixture in some ways which will require custom tuning.

No not stupid questions. Follow this link for were and how to get to the ECU: http://vishnutuning.com/xede_evo_installation.htm

As far as the intake please think twice about getting one! It will likely hurt performance and cause lean conditions through the midband. As far as which map to go with do the stage 0 and specify what octane you use and that you have a testpipe. Also it is important to use the proper parts if you are unable to get a custom tune and are buying a mailorder EM tuned only for a specific set of mods

I Think Shiv was saying something about 230WHP to 240WHP on his dyno but I dont know

Sounds good. I put out 224 on shivs dyno with just the xflash on a stock car. I just got a downpipe and catback. I'm going to have Vishnu do the install and Dyno tune after. I'm hoping to get at least another 20 Hp on Shivs dyno

i think you'll get that easily, good stuff that you're getting it tuned, hey let me know how your car runs, if you're in UC i'm prety close by, my parents live in san jose so i make runs from Sacrmaneto to San Jose pretty often. BTW what kind of catback and downpipe did you get. I was looking at getting downpipes but the whole illegal thing got me away from it. I know that with the same set up, some one was putting up between 250WHP and 260WHP on shivs dyno (xflash, downpipe and catback).

I have the XEDEFLASH and Vishnu's DP + Catback and put down 260 on Shiv's dyno.

Is that a California thing? I'm not sure why a replacement downpipe would be illegal... Generally, the catalytic converter and the muffler are regulated by law -- the downpipe doesn't fall under either of those. Just wondering.

I got the HKS down pipe and 30th Aniversary catback. I'm going to keep the stock cat, I don't want the smog commies here in Cali to get me Send me an Email next time your out this way and I'll see if we can meet up. I don't think a down pipe will get you into any trouble , by the way.

Take care,
Ron

i think in cali anything between the MAF and cat is illegal, at least thats what someone told me ( I think a vendor) in any case, the less trouble and more incospicous i am the better.

Ron V I'll send you a PM right now and we'll hook up whenever we get a chance.
