Just Install XEDE..Have Some Questions
I just install the XEDE and man does it make a difference. I have a full 3" turbo back exhaust and the XEDE. The turbo seems to spool faster and makes a higher pitch sound. Also it increased my idle and made it smoother.
Now for the questions.
When I installed a map I just double clicked on the map and pressed the OK button to upload it. It then asks me if I want to burn it to the EEprom (sp?). I just assumed yes and it went through its burning mode. So did I do this process right? The instructions on the XEDE site show a different version of the XMap.
My next question has to do with boost. My Defi gauge is showing 26 psi at WOT at lower RPMS. It then hits the fuel cut. It seems to run fine at 25 psi or less. I am in the process of finding a better pressure gauge to check the accuracy of my gauge. So what do I have to adjust in order to turn my boost down so I don't hit the fuel cut?
I would also like to thank the Mitsubishi for putting the boost pill 6 inches into the tube and also for making the fan shroud razor sharp. I slit one wrist and have blisters on my finger tips.
Just the sound of the turbo and idle improvements made the experience worth it.
Thanks in advance.

Check out this link to learn how to change boost.
As for the map burning process, it sounds like it worked. You can check the map by hooking up your laptop and clicking on "Xede Information" under the Diagnosis pull down.

I found that using long nose pliers you can move the pill down the tube by gripping the outside of the tube and then grab the pill from the inside once it is closer to the end. More or less painless but I will admit that I also have a good cut from the fan
shroud.
Sounds like you are going to have fun once you get the boost issue under control!

Hi the trick to removing the pill is to squirt a dab of WD 40 or pb blasrer into the tube then squeeze it lightly with those needle nose. Do not look into the tube when it is near the end it pops out sometimes with some force.
The boost issue is the only part of the xede map were the user does need to adjust (the only part thats not really plug and play) To cure it download current map from XEDE open the boost control map, highlight the on boost middle zone(midrange prolly from 3K -5K and above the 20 row) and press "<" key three times.

Do you have a cat or a test pipe?
shiv
I have a cat. Also, thanks for the forum link to the boost control. I noticed on the downloaded XMAP software that there is no help file to explain anything. Next week I am going in for cams and gears so I want to make sure I am doing things right.
I am running the stage 0+ map.

Well, I hook up a high end pressure/ vaccum tester (.25% accuracy) to determine my "real" boost values and I have determined that my Defi is about 1.5 psi off. The fuel cut seems to kick in about 23 psi. The car holds boost at around 22-22.5 psi and falls to about 17.5-18psi near redline. The boost spike causes the fuel cut around 4250-4750 RPM under WOT conditions. Another interesting note as the XEDE starts the solenoid clicking the boost seems to flucuate about .5 PSI up and down.
Now I just need to adjust those boost numbers to about 20 psi.

Is the clicking, of the "boost" (I am assuming it is for boost) solenoid, the XEDE trying to fight with ECU? Seems like the the solenoid is being powered by one of them and shut off by the other.

I say the last 1

No the clicking is actually your factory ECU firing a fake boost solenoid mounted on the Xede harness. The Xede fires the stock boost controller itself. So 1) there could be some slight electrical weirdness that interferes (drawing or interference) for a fraction of a second with the xede firing the factory Boost Controller or 2) morelikely a mechanical maxing of the Factory Boost Controller to efficiently switch the amount the Xede wants it to without any additional bleeding of the volume. or I dont have a clue and shouldnt be commenting

I went through the boost map and lower the all values the except the ones that were at 100.00. I pressed the "<" three times for each one. This has lowered my boost down to 20 PSI where I wanted it, but under WOT in 4th at 3000 RPM the boost now goes to 22 psi and stay there until about 4500 RPM. Before it would hit the fuel cut at 23 psi so I have lowered it. So should I just leave it the way it is or should I adjust it some more? What is everyone else seeing for boost?
BTW I am no longer hitting a fuel cut now.
