New Product: Vishnu Intercooler

Hi guys,

The new intercooler upgrade is finally ready. It's a few inches wider and 1/2" thicker than the unit we ran on the One Lap car (which was stock size). As with the original design it is 100% direct bolt-on. It also works with the factory fans so there is no need to do any additional fitment work. Actual dimensions are 12x24x3.5"

Price is $1150. We expect the first shipment of them to arrive in 4-6 weeks so let us know if you want to reserve yours We only expect to get 5 or 6 in the first batch so supplies are limited.

any pictures? Will this one look like the stock IC unit as well, like the One Lap car, or will this one look a bit different?

It looks a little bit different from the stock IC since it's a few inches wider. But it's not as obviously aftermarket as some of the other options on the market right now. We'll have pictures soon...

Is this manufactured in house? Do you have to cut the bottom tray?

'

Posting you have a new intercooler with no pics is torture. People like pics not descriptions.

With so many nice intercoolers available for 750 and under..it better be substantially better to justify the high price
Does it include lower piping or anything?
I'm guessing it is not made in house considering you are expecting to receive a shipment of 5-6 of them in a month or so. Who is making them?

Like all our intercoolers, they are made by Spearco to our specification. We provided then with a design and they produce it specifically for us. I have a prototype unit which we used to mock up fitment but it's not picture worthy (it's been cut/trimed/tweaked several times. So that means pictures will have to wait until the first batch of production units arrive. There is no need to cut the bottom tray and it is completely drop-in. I've seen some of the other low priced ICs on the market and they are price according for a reason (cored type, end-tank design, fabrication quality, etc,.

Just my 2c,

Shiv, using Dave's account

Does the bottom tray attach to the intercooler with those push screws like stock?

I'm very excited about this IC. A good friend of mine has the Vishnu WRX IC, and its quality is very impressive compared to the competition. Just wait until you can see the finished production units when they arrive in a few weeks!

Shiv, can you chime in on how beneficial the intercooler would be to a Stage 1+ setup?

Im trying to maximize performance on 91 octane pump gas, and it doesn't look like a bigger turbo will do much for me unless I get a stroker.

This will provide that last bit of cooling and charge density without the pressure drop and absurd lag inducing internal volume of other hang out the bumper designs.

Incidentally, anyone can call up Spearco, fax them a few end tank drawings and ask for a specific core, and they will do the same thing for you. I've had some friends do that for an absolutely incredible price. They deal with individuals as well as larger shops.

Of course, you need to do some work to ensure your design will fit, and there is no guarantee that you will end up with the right core for your engine and turbo. You could end up with a shiny paperweight.

Just an FYI.
