Hi guys,
Now that the rear defuser is done, we're working on the front splitter. The ran the APR unit on the car for the C&D event since our own proto wasn't done yet. There are a few design details absent in the currently available splitters I've seen that we will address with our unit. And yes, we are also working on a Gurney flap that doesn't use any componentry from Home Depot

OK, I have mine installed and I'll get some pics up and do a "How to thread" next week. I would do something earlier, but I will be out of town all weekend for the Chicago dyno day.
The install went smoothly with just a couple of tweaks. The following is a quickie on how we put everything together. A big thanks to Noah at SpeedLab in Hopkins, MN for giving me a hand and letting me use his lift.
The steps:
1) Assemble the diffuser from left (drivers side) to right and stop with the panel that borders the muffler. Remember to include the vanes between panels.
2) Install the crossbar that connects to the aluminum crossmember. You will need to remove the two bolts that hold one of your exhaust hangers and install them back through the crossbar.
3) Loosley install the metal rod with with the loops at either end. The bottom is the end with the rivet and will eventually connect to the diffuser. The top lines up with a threaded hole just to the rear of an upper control arm support. That hole is almost straight up from the "car" side of the muffler, and centered in a unibody rail. Leave some play in the bolt to allow for final adjustments.
4) Fit the partially assembled diffuser into place with the edges "inside" of the rear bumber. Loosely install the bolts that hold the leading edge of the diffuser to the crossbar. Also loosely bolt the bottom of the metal rod to the diffuser and check to ensure the exhaust has enough room to prevent rubbing when in moves around a bit. Gently bend the rod slightly if needed. After everything fits correctly tigten up all the bolts including the one above the muffler.
5) With the drivers rear wheel off, locate the metal protective cover for the gas tank fill tube. Lift the curved edge of the diffuser up to where the protective cover and diffuser can mount cleanly against each other. Use the pre-drilled hole in the diffuser to mark a point on the protective cover for mounting
6) Remove the gas tank fill tube protector (two bolts) and with it off the car drill a hole to match the one provided nut and bolt combo. Re-install the protector with the bolt pointing out (head towards the filler tube). Bolt up the diffuser to the filler line protector.
7) Look closely at where the vanes end at your rear bumper. On my car I needed to trim the bumper very slightly to clear the vanes. Trim away only what is absolutely necessary, the mounting holes will need to be drilled through the bumber close to the vanes.
8) Looking at the rivets on the diffuser from under the car, line up and tape the drilling template for the center of the car in place. Be sure the ends of template are pointed further under the car. Mark and drill the holes carefully while holding the edge of the diffuser up and out of the way. After drilling install the bolts into the trailing edge of the diffuser. Do not over-tighten the bolts, bumpers are expensive! Tighten the bolts just enough so that the diffuser and bumper are firmly sealed, do not strech the bumper's plastic.
** At this point we ran into a couple of things that needed extra attention. First we needed to make some minor adjustments to the holes. Nothing serious, we just made small "ovaled" the holes slightly to ensure the bolts coud be run straight in. The second issue we hit was that two of the rivets that the bolts are screwed into started to twist with the bolts. We reached in from the driver's fender well above the diffuser used a long chanel lock to keep the top side of the rivet from spinning.
9) Repeat step 8 with the curved template ligned up for the driver's side of the car. That template is reverseable so be sure the holes match with where the rivets want to align.
10) Loosly onnect the "under muffler" section the installed diffuser. Be sure it's not backwards; really. Slide the one remaining diffuser piece into place outside the muffler and loosley connect it to the "under muffler" section. After everthing is lined up and the clearences look good tighten all the bolts.
11) Use the curved template to repeat step 9 for the muffler side of the car.
12) Hand your helper a
and step back to admire your new diffuser! You're done!

It went in great! The minor tweaks were expected, every project has them.
The install only took about 3 hours including time for photos, figuring out the best order for the steps and calling Vishnu to confirm a couple of things. We even had plenty of time to rib the the guy adding sponsorhip decals to his fully race prepared, single turbo, 3rd gen RX-7 about his new "go-fast stickers". That is one seriously hot car!

the lancer non evo guys may want this product too!! for some of us who actually can hit 100+ miles per hour in our cars ...maybe on the downhill..this catch fin can be of some use to us. i just like it cuz it looks cool..hell, it may even help me increase my gas mileage cuz it makes my car more streamline aerodynamic...develop something for the lancer..thanks
Wow - I just re-read my install post and am amazed at all the little mistakes. Shows how functional I am at 4:00 am when working on 3 hours of sleep. I'll clean it up after I get back from Chicago.
