Need help with XEDE.
The Xede is installed, now im trying to setup the fuel maps, the problem that i am having is, when I open the XMap program it crashes my computer. It only does this when the com port is set to the port in which the laptop comunicates with the XEDE. Quick info on my laptop is, AMD Athlon 1800, 2.0 ver USB ports, 512 ddr memory. I dont have any serial ports on the laptop, but I do have a USB-Serial port adapter. Is The XMap software picky about what certain USB-Serial port adapter is used? Is there a list of adapters that work with the XEDE? Or is this even the problem that I am having.
Answers on this would help me very much. Wanna get this car running right soon.

So if i cant find someone with an older laptop with a serial port im not going to be able to install a new map b/c my computer is too new and the software is sensitive? Has there been any reserch on any USB-Serial port adapters that work?
The dude says go to CompUSA or somewhere else like that and buy a SIIG or Sakar (iconcepts), USB-Serial adapter for about $29. Stay away from the belkin, or the el-cheapo adapters. For some reason unbeknowst to me, only certain brands of USB-serial adapters will work. These are two known brands that work with the Xede and Xmap.
You could try to troubleshoot your current adapter but I'm pretty sure it's a hardware conflict as changing interrupt requests and trying other drivers still won't work. Sucks I know, I had to sell my old one on ebay, but the above 2 should work for ya.

Ditto here, had to buy serial I/O PC card, cost about $120, works with the new Xmap too.
