Question are stage 1+ cams safe?

Hi guys,
I called up Vishnu last week to order a stage 1+ kit (264/272), and now I'm seeing posts saying that the HKS cams aren't safe with stock valvetrain? Apparently people are saying HKS recommends upgrading the valvetrain...what gives?

thanks!

I think they are crazy. There are countless of people with the cams and havent seen any problems. I have the 272/272 and i really cant tell the diference when im driving normally. Its awsome when it idles. Its soo cool to hear a new car like the evo lobe like it does. Ive never had any problems, neither have any of my buddies.

xlr8r, don't worry, go for it. I've the stage 1+ for 4k miles already.not a single problem. I running the hks 272s. Have Shiv put in the updated firmware in the Xede, your car will be idling better. USE STOCK AIR BOX...

forgot to mention, the hks cams don't require upgrade springs, unlike jun and tomei cams. You need to upgrade your fuel pump, if you want cams...

Yeah the HKS cams are only 10.8mm of lift so you can keep the stock springs/retainers. Shiv's been runnin his cams for almost 30k miles and it is holding up fine.
