XEDE tuning

What does the actually tuning interface on a laptop look like? Any pictures, and also, how confusing is using the XEDE?? I am hoping to get one during the next Dyno4mance Dyno day in October.

If you picture a digital equalizer, that is what our tuning interface looks like. Just make the curve look pretty and you'll make gobs of power....

..j/k LOL

There are a few screenshots here (not the main screen though ) ... http://www.vishnutuning.com/files/ev..._Map_Files.doc

You could also try www.chiptorque.com.au and see if they have any screenshots of the XMap software.

There is also a "Live Data" interface (I think that is it's name) That shows a bar style read out for a few other items (MAF MAP Wastegate Solenoid (I think?) etc...) along with the same RPM half circle. You can only get data from maps that are not password protected. I don't know if Vishnu's are or not, I am running on a local (mile high altitude) map up here in Colorado. For instance you might get MAF in but not MAF out.

It also has a logging feature that will go into an excel spread sheet pretty handily but from there you either have to love reading long lists of numbers or know how to pull it in to a readable chart in MS Excel.

There is also something called (something like) "auxillary injector duty cycle". Which I can't get to work.

It looks like a pretty cool tool but I would like to have some documentation on it as it applies to us Vishnut's. The help file also serves as a user's guide. I am just starting to use it, so I'm pretty green on it.

Good Luck :-)

I also run it on a mac. Its very important to get a good usb to serial adapter though. I run a keyspan. It was a little more expensive but the cheap targus one didn't work at all.

You can always download the the xmap software from Vishnus site. Thats what I did before I ever got my xede, I just browsed around the prog to get familiar with it. I think it helped alot, for when I finially did get everything installed.

Tuning the xede is very easy (at least at my level of tuning where safety instead of every last horsepower is important). I am using a plx wideband setup and my mac and after about 4 tries, I got the map sitting where I wanted it in this texas heat. I DEFINITELY say you need to hook a wideband up if you are running an intake of any kind. This will cause the maps to be much much leaner (at least in my experience) and they need to be fattened up a bit.

So retarding .5 deg on the timing table takes out .5 deg of spark advance or 1 deg of spark advance?
